Liz, what part of St. Louis will you be in? Lots of hotels & eateries. You should plan on Zia's restaurant on the "Hill". St. Louis is known for it's Italian. Also, there are several locally owned Spiro's greek restaurants, any of which are good. Areas to see may include, depending on what you want:

Lacledes landing and the Arch, downtown waterfront
Main Street, St. Charles, restaurants & gift/antique shops
Clayton, upscale restaurants (Cardwells is not a chain)
The Hill, Italian restaurants

to name a few.

We are delivering the pup:dogrun: on Sat. early. Then plan on staying overnight. Need help with hotel and where to eat. What is the downtown like? Omaha has Old Market I really like that, we stay in a hotel that looks like it is out of the 20's lots of bars and places to eat within walking distance. (Remember it has to be good for the MM too..parking,etc.) I have used hotels.com and had a BAD room a few times, glad I took my Kimber Pro Tactical .45ACP,:gunfire:I never would have gotten any sleep.

Liz,

I have stayed at the Rennaissance Grand Hotel in downtown St. Louis. Pricey but Very nice and within walking distance of the riverfront, casinos, and parks. They have their own parking garage behind the hotel ($14.00 per day). Link here >>> http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/stldt-renaissance-st-louis-grand-and-suites-hotel

I agree wholeheartedly with visiting one of the Italian restaurants on "The Hill". Best I have ever had with authentic and homestyle atmosphere.

The hotel we were looking at is , well can remeber the name but has a book in each room with the name of the hotel on it. cant remeber the author either. Atleast I remeber my name though. Think it was $149 a night. Has LCD tv's too. Big deal, I just want a nice place with good parking and close to where the action is. LOL.

$14 a day is more than I want to pay for a room, let alone for parking!! Jeesum... $149 a nite is almost $5000 a month....Oh well, Last time I was in St Louis the Mississippi was over the arch base and yellow brown and stinky...

Haven't stayed there but the Country Inn is a new facility in a growing area of high priced condos. The Country Inn is in walking distance to the Ameristar Casino. It is also in walking distance to the Main Street shopping and restaurants. Close to the Country Inn is the Trailhead restaurant. Farther down Main is The Dining Room which has probably the best dinner on the street...its a bit of a walk. Ameristar has four restaurants or so right in the Casino, all good food.

Gina & I would be happy to meet you for dinner Saturday night if you have time and interest.

I'm not sure what I will do now, I called and the place I wanted to stay only has king rooms:depress:. That would be okay if my hubby was riding with me but my friend is coming with me. (were close but not like that) Are there any others that are in that area? I will ask her if she's up for dinner with you and Gina.:)
