I was thinking of picking up some of these COP connectors but ran into buying just the connectors (for about $140) or the connectors with coil packs included (for about $550). Now if price was no obstical is these any benifit to getting the coil packs? Just the connectors will increase the spark, so do the new packs give it some "super" spark? As of now I don't have any mods, but plan to do many..many. I have 180 stat and colder plugs, just wanted to get new wires and connectors and do it all at once.

I also see there are some for sale on this site for $300, that must be with packs, would that be a good deal?

I've seen some N/A MM guys just getting the connectors, but to my understanding, people have said the full COP's will benefit more to a power adder MM.

You will see mixed feelings on this one...I have just the connectors...I like them, for several reasons:

1. I simply did not have enough confidence in the OEM design...The skinny little wires annoyed me, to say the least...Note: When I changed mine...three were burnt...I could feel the difference when all eight (Granatellis) were firing...

2. It seems to rev a bit quicker...and have less compression braking when i let off of the throttle...Car rolls farther...

3. I wouldn't be suprised if I get better mpg's...Because of #2^^Can't tell because I'm stomping on it always...LOL

I would recommend them.

With regards to the "packs" it is advised that you DON"T get them...

All will agree that the "Packs" do NOT work well for our motors

At least one person has had issues w/ the actual Coil.

Personall, I like my COPs. They GOTTA work better than the dorky stock spring. I have no proof of this, other than they look like they would.

I got a set. Perhaps just a feel good mod?

:dunno:

I heard with these coils they will require a taller coil cover!

From my post in 2005 when I installed mine!!! Still doing GREAT many, many miles later!!!:bows:

For the last year my 04 has had a slight "bucking" in TC lockup and it drove me nuts since it wouldn't throw a code!! I tried a TPS...then IAC...then EGR valve and nothing helped so I programed the TC to lock at a higher speed but could still feel it.....kind of like hitting slight dips in the road??

THE GRANATELLI CONNECTORS FIXED THIS CONDITION COMPLETELY AND AS I STATED BEFORE....THIS IS THE SECOND BEST MOD FOR ME!!

I think the fact that the OEM "springy thingy" is mild steel and the coil connector is brass causes some electrolytic corrosion over time and offers higher resistance...maybe causing a "Phantom Misfire" at cruise or light acceleration. Also the fit at the spark plug is very loose making another sub-standard connection!!

Another benefit is slightly improved fuel mileage....consistantly 1.5 MPH better on the road??

As far as power.....I cannot feel anything but the DAMN "bucking" is gone completely....FWIW??

I am a believer......

There are two different versions of the coils. One version requires coil cover spacers (the early version) as well as reversing of the wires to the primary side of the coils. The newer version is direct plug-n-play. However, if you look closely you will see that the new ones look identical to the OEM coils. The only identification marks on them are some numbers cast into the bottom of the primary side connector housing, and it is the exact same number found on OEM ones. So are they really different from stock COPs?

The plug wires do snap onto the plugs much more securely.

I got the connectors and from what I seen they rev better and compared to my last drive with oem. Initial drive and wot I felt like the car felt more confident and smother in accel. I'm pretty shure If i went back stock I would notice it more and hate the car.

Yep me to, after installing them and starting the car I noticed right away how it idled a lot smoother and rev'ed quicker with much ease. I think they go hand in hand with a good spark plug (over oem plug).

Accel and now I think Mallory too offer upgrade COPs for about $28 each. They are rated @ higher RPM/Volts.
