on more licensing related stuff. I publish a calendar for my web site each year with members cars. No Ford ovals, logos or anything else, just privately owned vehicles. Normally use Cafe Press, who does a nice job. Well, just informed that no longer will these images be allowed from a shopkeeper of another site. Not sure if anyone who produces products with the Mercury logo here has heard anything, but I would be curious..

Dumb move. Fighting their own fan base and free advertising?
Why am I not surprised?
Just currently, I have 9 Fords in the family. If I had to buy a car today, it would NOT be a Ford.
I hope they start making something interesting, up their warranty to at least match GM or Chrysler if not beat them, and stop busting the balls of their fans!
My point is, at a time when Ford cannot even compete with the Domestics (let alone the imports Euro AND Asian) in products and/ or warranty, they should be very careful about hurting their limited fan base.

Everyday someone tells me how FORD sucks and I defend them on terms that I like their products and potential to put out nice cars. But things they keep doing to there fans really hit home.
I still wonder what they will do with the UAW. How will they settle that?
What will they do with the Mustang when the all NEW CAMARO and CHALLENGER comes out?
What will happen with the Panther platform replacements? Is the Interceptor going to have a Mercury variant? I'm sure they will have a Lincoln model.
What will the F-150 be like: mileage, ride, comfort, engine, towing, appearance, and features.
What is Mercury's position, IF it has a position in the company?
And is the hurricane engines still coming? What will their displacements be? What will power output be?
I have more, But I would like these answered.

Probably put a 3 bar chrome grille on it
Ford already was the first one to bring back a retro ride, they beat GM and Mopar by about 2 years so far.
Its not the fact that they dont make good vehicles, its just that some of them are boring and they dont advertise well. When i was down in NC my sisters fiance had a ford edge (manager at enterprise used car dealer and gets company car) and he even thought it was a pos and a turd, but it was suprisingly very nice, rode smooth, plenty of getup and it came standard with a MP3 plug.
The Taurus and X should bring in some sales IF they advertise for longer than 3 months, and actually put some quality into it. We owned a 02 SE and it wasnt a bad commuter car at all.
They just need to learn how to "try"

My Dad had an '01 SES and that thing was sweet. Never had one problem with it, and my Dad DRIVES his vehicles. I wouldn't mind finding a nice '01+ Taurus/Sable for a DD. But yea, Ford needs to market better, and just seriously grow a new set of nuts and do something wild with the 'Stang. I mean, do something different, I'd like to a see a nice single turbo 4.6l.

Cafepress, c/o Ford.
It's possible Cafepress is over reacting.
This crack down on use of copyrighted/trademarked logos isn't new, and it was actually started by General Motors with Ford and Chrysler following the action after.
A calendar such as yours though should be a different situation, as long as it isn't represent as a 'Ford' calendar.
Cafepress having Ford logo t-shirts, mugs etc is a different situation.

For trademarks, Ford will forfeit their trademarks if they do not defend them. It is a federal law, not a Ford thing.
If they do not prevent this from happening they will lose the right to call themselves Ford.
Ironically Subaru has told me they do not care about this and would not pursue it. If I get mad a Subaru should I tell your Government that they don't care about their logo?
As for pictures of cars, private or not, Ford cannot force you to stop making a poster or selling such pictures. You cannot trademark a Picture. You can trademark a logo, or copyright a name but not a picture that you or someone else selling giving you the picture has taken.
Your Calendar might be exempt.

Cafepress, c/o Ford.
This isn't Ford. This is cafepress cracking down more harshly lately because youtube/google keeps getting sued and cafepress wants to avoid all liability.

No it's not, it's . It's Ford. The SVTP guys are fighting a battle now with a calendar they're trying to make. http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=451585&highlight=calendar It may be Cafe Press now, but Ford had the first punch.
