No and its not a good idea I do not agree with the post you are probably seeing about this

The answer is no. I don't know why you would do that given the manufacturer's direction and the fact that it matches the dipstick. If those two disagreed, you would have to reconcile that problem.

I put in 6 1/2 quarts with no troubles whatsoever.

Just add when low. About half to one quart every 3K. Dealer said thats normal. "Sir it's a FORD" :flamer:

The Blackbird takes just shy of 6 quarts to reach the full mark on the dipstick. Phoebe takes exactly 6.

No. If you want to put more oil in your engine, use a larger oil pan........

I use EXACTLY six quarts. No problems at all.

I have always followed the reading on the dipstick, 6 quarts is low, 6 1/2 is in the center of the full mark.

If you filled it with 6 "liters", then it is very overfull.

FWIW, I always allow 20 minutes for oil drainback BEFORE cheching oil level. If I change the oil, I drain it, replace the filter, and then refill & start up. While I'm cleaning up, the oil is draining back into the pan from our HUGE heads -- it takes about 20 mins. after you shut down the engine to get an accurate oil level reading ALWAYS. Ask me how I know -- I have maintained 2 MMs for more than 3 years and I'm the one that saves the receipts but does my own oil changes. Cheers!

exactly...thats why if you change the oil..add six quarts..start it up and check the oil it reads 1/2 quart low...if you start it and let it sit for a little while ...the six quarts would be just right..takes a while for the oil to drain back...but i also believe the extra 1/2 quart will do no harm,so to each his own;)

Changed my oil and filter yesterday, added six quarts, drove it around the block, parked it for the night, checked the level this morning and it's right at the full mark, the top dimple......."perfect".....:banana2:

The Blackbird takes just shy of 6 quarts to reach the full mark on the dipstick. Phoebe takes exactly 6.I would put the full 6 in when also changing the filter. Use the dip stick as a guide only. That thing can be off a little. A recommendation from a Ford shop foreman whose advise I respect tremendously. Do what you want though.
