This is not Marauder related, but my daughter's 94 Ford Taurus has a broken spring on the passenger side rear strut. The break is toward the bottom of the coil and it doesn't seem to be affecting the car except for an occasional cluck when going over large bumps. Can the spring be replaced or do I have to buy the entire strut? Can I replace the strut myself or is that best left to the pros?

If you've never done a strut before.... which it sounds like, either get a pro to do it since you'll need a spring compressor to disassemble the strut and the spring is under tremendous pressure (serious personal damage can result if you not careful!), or if you want to do the job yourself you can see if there is a "QuickStrut" for your car like this one:

What caused the breakage? If there is a serious corrosion issue? I would replace all of them before a fractured spring comes out and kills somebody. I had a 1995 Taurus for 8 years and know the car from tip to toe. See if you can get used springs on ebay or the entire strut assemby from a boneyard to minimize the work to replace it.

Thanks for the help guys. We have Checker Auto Parts here in MN and they stock the Monroe Quick Strut for about $150. I think I'll do both left and right rear stuts. Will I need to have it re-aligned?

Best to. Newer springs will have a higher 'rate' and no matter HOW good manufacturing tolerances are, there WILL be a slight rate difference left-right.
Install them. Let them settle for about 100 in-town miles. Re tighten/check everything. Get 'er aligned.

OEM coil springs are not expensive
