No more Harley F150.
Some dick just about did in your favorite webmaster by T-boning my Harley with his 18 Wheeler...
Truck is royally F'd up...Totalled without a doubt. Both drivers side tires were popped completely off the truck, brake rotors still sttached.
I got spun around, forced into a ditch, damn near flipped over and bounced back out onto the street.
18 wheeler had a bent bumper.
Lesson for the day:
Don't get hit by a 18 wheeler.

For now, I'm OK. Got hit pretty good with an airbag deployment, so that'll take a little bit to work through my system before I know if there's any long term damage, but no broken bones or pains... Just a few abrasions and some dull aches.

Hmmm Truck gone. Do you still need the carrying capacity?
Man, sorry to hear this Logan. But glad to hear you're O.K.
The bright side about being hit by a commercial vehicle though, is more than likely better (and mandatory) insurance on their side. I know in TX, when I lived out there, there are LOTS of uninsured...
I was just at the dealer an hour ago dropping off parts for my install on Saturday, and one just like yours caught my eye and I went over and was going through it. Hopefully, they'll get you fixed up quick, cause she sure is a beauty!
Keep us updated.

Listen to BigDog and gonzo. I've been in several major t-bone accidents, and been nailed by a pickup in a crosswalk - the damage is apparent later, not right now. Now is still shock and confusion and crazy emotions.

I'm sorry to hear you were hit,but am glad it wasn't worse.Don't be in any hurry to do any settlements with the insurance company, wait a few weeks to see if any injuries,(I hope there are none),aches or pains manifest themselves.Believe me ,I settled in a hurry back in 1982 when a supposedly terrific Dr. said my neck was okay after a guy rear-ended me,(he actually hit me TWICE),I can't sleep on my left side without waking up to a terrific neck ache,if I'm lucky enough to catch one forming 6 Anacin may quell it,if not I'm miserable for a month or more. Settle in haste, repent at leisure.
I wish I could afford to buy the HD F-150 if they total it,the eng, trans and computer, etc. would be really nice to have in my Expy.

Man--thats a lot of post to read ------SORRY LOGAN!!
I , like you , have an F-150 , although not the same features, but built the same style body --Supercrew-
and just yesterday--was reading in the paper the F150 Supercrew Body style rated as top of Fords list amoung others of course, but still singled out just the same, , as a 5 Star rating ..etc, etc..
And it has definately proven it...man ,, glad to hear your ok--and I too have that same structure around me...Like you--already had mine (last March-) ..we're getting picked off like our men over seas....
All be careful--and Logan--keep good records of all you do following this ,,--still haven't settled anything since my March accident as yet....Good luck and keep us posted....Tom...

Woooooooooo doggy, what a day. Timing is kinda weird as I'm headed off to Montreal for 10 days Friday evening, so it's not like I needed the truck anyway...
Thanks for all the words and thoughts. By the time I had things organized this afternoon, it was too late to see my doctor today, but I'll be visiting him tomorrow morning, it's just the prudent thing to do for liability, health and evidentiary purposes...
We'll see how it goes, right now, based on my own inspection, the drivers frame rail was actually torn/split in one spot, the rear axle assy destroyed, along with the driveshaft, the engine went to WOT after it ditched for no apparent reason it took me a minute to shut it down as I was pretty dazed, the two left rims were sheared right off the truck, one of which was under the rig, the other, down the street, both with rotors still attached to them... The bed on the truck is destroyed, the cab is relatively unscathed, but the frame, suspension and possibly the drivetrain is screwed royally. Both airbags deployed too.
Knowing the values on alot of this stuff, my initial estimate puts the damage north of $24-27k. His damage, well, a bent bumper. Pretty confident it'll be totalled.
Who knows, maybe I WILL go buy another marauder for $21-22k!! :) After being in an accident like that, I don't know I can bring myself to roll in another F150 for a little while... Ah well, we'll see what happens in a few weeks. I'm just glad the rest of the family wasn't with me at the time...
Again, thanks for the thoughts and advice.

Man-oh-man, I didn't read this...Logan!
I'm glad to hear that you seem to feel okay after all of this. Please give your injuries 24-36 hours to surface. I'm betting you'll be quite sore everywhere, for the next few days.
You'll get another truck, Logan, for sure. But, where do WE find another Logan, eh?
So, once you recover from this mess, you'll have to stop this silly "field testing" of your "mass vs. mass, there can be only one" stuff. It's a given, I buy it, K? What don't you get. You trying to turn this into a fetish of some kind?
Go on and recover from this, sounds like quite an impact, the kind that can rattle the pumkin. Once you have...You buy a Marauder. And, you don't want another one, do you?
Get a grip already, K? 18 wheelers don't wear leather bras, stilletos, or swipe at you with a cat 'o nine tails. They don't play, they just plain ****** you up, period. Take one on and it's full bore WWF "no rules" when you think it's a just a friendly game of Scrabble. Just stop it now..."I don't want to have to pull this car over!" You can't keep this s**t up, Logan, it's gonna leave a mark!
J/K...I am really glad you're okay enough to share this with us. I am not that "young" anymore, something like this would have left me broke. I hope you are really okay, and while you're on the mend, maybe you should just chill with us a while, eh?

Logan, sincerest condolences from myself and my wife. Since we are some of the (probably) few on this site who have had the pleasure of meeting you and eyeballing your neat ride, we feel a deep sense of both tragedy for what happened and relief that it was not worse. Glad to hear that you will be visiting a doctor before taking a trip out of the country. As many folks here have said, the aches and pains will come later. Since you will probably be on some kind of proscribed medicine I think it only right that I
try and do my part to help you out. Therefor, tonight before I retire, I plan to consume a "medicinally" measured amount of good Irish Jameison whisky to toast your continued good health.
Hey, it's the least I can do.
Get well and have a safe trip.

Look at it this way Logan, you made it out OK, and the truck can be replaced...at a premium I might add courtesy of the trucking company ;) By the way, was it a gravel bomber that hit you? Just curious, because they are the most dangerous drivers around where I live. In the town I work for, if a gravel bomber causes and accident he gets an automatic wreckless driving charge.

I am sorry to hear about this Logan, but I'm quite happy to hear that you are relatively unscathed. As said here before, it is a lucky thing that you were in a vehicle with a good safety rating. Also it's a good thing you weren't going any faster than your guardian angel could fly.
It is disconcerting to see so many reports here lately of accidents, but I suppose it is due to the fact that we are becoming a large and widespread community.
Hope you feel well, recover quickly, and replace your truck with another Marauder ;)

Sorry to hear of your mishap and glad you were able to walk away. Nasty business tangling with 18 wheelers.
Since it sounds like you may be in the market for a new vehicle, its interesting that Ford has upgraded from the F150 to F250 for 04 HD series. I saw some photos from an unveiling of the new 04 HD F250 at a California Bike show (bikernet.com).
