Tranny issue:

Got stuck in traffic last night. Shifted into 1st while crawling along. Once speed picked, I shifted back into (D).

Got off the Interstate, cruise at 55mph and the O/D off light starts flashing??!??!

Pushed the O/D button and shifted into 2nd. Still flashing.
Couple minutes later it stops while driving at city speeds.

Took her to the Dealer this morning. They found the following error code: 1728

They did a visual inspection of the tranny. Nothing "unusual" found. Checked the valve body, changed filter and tranny fluid (for FREE - Nice!) They couldn't repeat the problem.

Was told the code meant "the tranny had slipped".

Could anyone verify the code?

Any ideas what may have caused this "slip"?

Any reason for serious concern?

TIA !

P.S.: I have 21500 miles on her. Normal, daily driving with the occasional WOT. No mod's!

I had a similar experience earlier this week. I was stopped at a light, shifted to first with OD off. While trying to shift to second the shifter went all the way to drive but the tranny never shifted out of second, OD on or off. Next light I put the car in Park then Drive (OD on) - no problem. I can switch OD on/off no problem
and the car shifts fine (well, fine as it can be without a chip!) as long as I let it shift. I think we're in for trouble with these trannys.

8500 miles, Normal, daily driving with the more than occasional WOT. No mod's

I'm a service manager for a FLM dealer in Tennessee, as well as a Marauder owner. Mine done the same thing while new, its a simple fix. Go back to your dealer and have them adj the shifter linkage at the range sensor. It appears that they are off from the factory about 1/4 inch. Make sure they follow the proper procedure as published in theyre workshop manual. When moving the shifter fron park to drive all works well, but when moving from low back to drive it dosen't tell the PCM what gear to be in, so it sets a slip code...

Thanks for the post (email) Joe!

Just wanted to share with everyone here, that I had my MM in for the shifter linkage adjustment 6 months ago, they told me back than, there is no adjustment. That's just the way it is.

I guess I'll have to take it back with pictures and show them how to do it!

Again, thanks. Glad to know you are sharing your insider information!

joe, do you think your dealership would be interested in becoming the official Marauder club dealer. I am in the Durango club www.durangoclub.com and we have a dealership in Springdale Ark, that gives all members of the club parts at 10% over cost.
I went to check on the rear spoiler and they wanted $265. That discount would really help, and they would get added business.

the adjustment helped mine for the no-reverse problem
