Well I have experienced another problem and it's one most were predicting. My transmission finally went out. I cannot give the full details or say what went wrong because I wasn't driving the car. Actually the car was over 90 miles away from my position when I got the news. I actually didn't really care. The damage is said to be between 300 bucks (that is if I'm really luck) or $2,400 for a built version using my old one. A new transmission will run me about $1.800. With all the the problems I have been experiencing lately it almost seems like this might be it. If I went nuts on the car at 36,000 miles like I wanted to I doubt I would be facing these problems. Also just about every single aftermarket part has failed me while the car itself has held up just fine.

I even got an offer from a member on here to take it off my hands and I am seriously considering it. I might even get another Marauder. Maybe I could take off my blower and put it on a newer Marauder. If I had things my way I would buy a built one, but the one guy I know with a fully built Marauder for sale isn't returning my calls. Even if I was to get a new car there really isn't anything that interest me at all. If anything I would want a Challenger, but with all the problems with SRT8 aftermarket parts the interest is fading away. Mustangs are cool, but they're everywhere. I really don't wanna leave the Marauder community either and thats really one of my biggest problems.

If anyone would like to make an offer on my car let me know. Prochargerd, 120,000 miles, broken tranny. PM me for an offer. I'm not saying it's for sale, I just wanna get some options going. In the mean time I am looking for other Marauders or another car. I know this sounds weird, but the only car that really interest me for a daily driver right now that is new is a Lincoln Town Car.... yes I love those big American Full Size V8 Sedans. I keep everyone posted and my interest doesn't work anymore. If you really wanna contact me call.

If not a Marauder, then how about one of these:

GN's are scary fast, i know someone who sold his about a year ago, it ran 11's on the track.

I believe the fastest GN is a twin turbo that ran low 8's, then next is a single turbo that was 2 tenths slower

then you must betalking about a built one... by NHRA law youmust run a cage if you are under 9 seconds, and i know for a fact the GN did not come with a cage.... one of my best friends owns one, along with a 70 chevelle ss and a 67 nova, he says ya its fast but the chevelle and nova are more fun.

go with this if you are thinkn of gettin rid of the MM... i know its older, but its got a 5.0 HO and its bada$$

if you want to go new.... the lincoln ls is now offered with a small V8 and a manual gearbox.... must be fun!

From all that has happened to your ride, Problems are probably not over.
Did you learn something from this?
I hope it turns out well for you.

A big Black leather on Black Lincoln sounds really nice too. Supercharge it, add anti-sway bars, cross bars, 4.10 and a chip of course. Enjoy a real darkhorse, one without the give away rims, exhaust and Marauder etched on the back.

or

Get a whitehorse. A friend has a white leather on white Towncar and it is very sweet. It is like someone turned on a light. Not as much front seat leg room as the Marauder but very nice all the same.

A quick autotrader check shows 165 Towncars 04 to 08 within 25 miles of your city hall.

On the other hand there is this:

Expensive but still cheaper than the Towncars.

Maybe 120,000 Miles is the Cue to a super low mileage Marauder.

Dom, I know things seem bleak right now, but don't give up, brah...

Sometimes a complete change is a good thing, other times you just end up looking back and saying "I should never have gotten rid of that car".

Putting a blower on a car that wasn't specifically designed or modified for it IS going to break things. You have a car with 120,000 (let's see, how do I be PC about this...) "spirited" miles on it. Frankly, I'm impressed you got that many miles out of your stock transmission.

As you said, you have 3 choices: get rid of it and buy something completely different; get rid of this car but buy another Marauder and start over; or keep this one and fix it. Obviously I vote for #2 or #3. I know it may seem like you have a money-pit now, but buying something else and modifying it isn't going to be any cheaper. You also have a fairly rare car, and once you get the issues ironed out you'll have something you can enjoy and be proud of.

We're all here to help you, so, as the British are fond of saying: "Stiff upper lip, there's a good lad". ;)

I am sorry you are having this issue, but its a SC car on a stock trans with over a 100k on the clock. I felt when I drove the car in Ind it was in the trans and I told you that, the 1/2 was way to soft, and Domenic it should never cost the money you are talking about to replace the transmission, the converter will be checked and cleaned free by PI you can buy a trans kit from me at cost for 400.00 if you take the transmission out and find a good Ford trans tech he will rebuild it for about 300.00. But again you chose to do all these mods on a high millage Marauder and things will break but if done smartly you can go through this car and make it right, its better than selling this and starting over.

If you buy another car you will prob have similar problems all over again.

With your Marauder due to its age and mileage you are going to have the same problems you would have with any other car.

Other members with the same products as you are not having the same probs as you. I would analyze as to why that is happening.

I saw Anderson's go mid 7's at the GS Nationals in Bowling Green. Unbelievable. Have it on video too.

I'd say go for the tranny replacement. it appears you've gotten most of the other bugs out, so don't give up now when you're so close to perfection. One good thing about having so many problems, is that you'll be able to give so much advice because you've been there and back.

IMO, when you went supercharged, it meant this car was a keeper. Bad time nowadays but a year from now you'll probably laugh about it.

I would be stubborn and fix it. You'll loose too much trying to sell a broken trans car anyway.

I think this was almost expected coming from a car with 100xxx + miles on it, then adding some forced induction to it. And I bet the "Drive it like you stole it" attitude does little to help the car mechanically.

I say rebuild the trans, beef that ****er up, and have piece of mind from a rock solid trans. The trans going out is the only issue I would have been worried about anyways if I was in your situation.

Get the Trans rebuilt.

Get a Warranty ;)

Get the rear end rebuilt. It's clunking is NOT good. Replace w/ stockers, upgrade the Posi, or upgrade the whole lot to 31's.

At THAT point, start saving for a new bottom end.

Or sell the turd, and start ALL OVER AGAIN.

It's all up to you.

You can't beat that with a stick. To get my Tranny done it cost me over 2K, so take him up on it before someone else does.
Now if you can get some Alto Red eagle clutches out of the deal you'll be in like flint.

Silver frost? Sounds like a Canadian color, like Deep Tundra Blue. :) :P

Dom, sounds like you've gotten plenty of good advice to filter through, just make sure you weight the pros and cons and you'll make the best choice for you

DOM!!!,

MAN, what the heck....get the bloody thing rebuilt. I blew a u-joint in my T-Bird @ 108mph. Got it rebuilt and it ran better than ever. Take Zack's offer and make it happen. The motor's good, get the tranny good and you can continue to do those sick burn-outs out of resturant parking lots.

I'm waiting to hear from Korrey what exactly he broke.

A. He didnt break anything personally.
B. If it gets to the stage of him diagnosing it, you should just leave it there for him to fix, cause everything will already be apart.

10-23-2007, 02:49 PM
Yup that is the plan and everyone knows the tranny was due for this anyway, it's not Korreys fault at all. I'll hear about this tonight or tomorrow.
