;)Ford Part # 5W1Z-6N634-AA "SHIELD" is a plastic item about the size of your palm that clips to hoses that are directly under our MM oil filter. As you loosen up the oil filter, the oil runs down and hits the "SHIELD",
and then lets the oil trail off past hoses, cross members, etc and land into your oil pan-NO Mess!!! This part was made for Crown Vics and Grand M
arquis but works great on MM's. Cost from dealer is$10-$18
Ford recently manufactured another run of these so they should be off back order.

The Oil Deflector is a nice addition to prevent messes during oil changes.
I got mine last year from Ray the Dealer.
Mike.

That's right.
You wanna become absent for a while?
It could easily be arranged,... :flamer:

I've had mine for a while and sold quite a few to my local members. I do agree. It works great.

Just dropped an order with Innnovative for one....this thread was a good reminder as I decided to do my own changes now that I've figured out a good way to get the car up off the garage floor high enough to work on it?!
Guess I didn't know what I had in store. Sounds like this shield will save some aggravation...

I like it but it's not fool proof for me (or maybe I'm the fool). Almost every time I change oil I still spill some. The shield handles the flow from loosening the filter but I still have trouble getting the filter out around all the PS hoses without dumping some on me. I think I only did it once with no spill. I've given up trying to stay clean - just get the rags out and clean it up.

I'll give it a try. I guess it could work if you could maneuver the filter into an upright position as you put it in the bag and then pull it out. Thanks. At least with the drip shield you don't get the initial drainage all over when you loosen the filter.
Try a zip-lock bag next time.I'll have to remember to try that. Thanks Bob.

Changing the oil on the Marauder w/ no shield is still probably the smallest mess I ever make. I have a coolant slick across my garage floor from changing cylinder heads on my Camaro.

Yeah, its really not that bad, I really dont spill too much. If I do spill some brake cleaner does the trick!

USed the shield I got from Wes...worked good for the initial spill...
Took me longer to figure out how to orient it and clip it on than it did to swap the filter!
Still screwed up negotiating the filter out and spilled stuff as I was pulling the filter through the lines running through that area.
All in all, with some practice, I will start to use less speedy dry and hand cleaner! Thanks to the SHIELD!!!
