CC,

Buffalo is just a small town, do a yellow page search for a dealer or garage in that area. Is the car at a gas station or what?

How are you so sure it's a torque converter and not the tranny pump.

I would think Palestine would have the closest repair shop. They could troubleshoot then remove and replace with a new or rebuilt T/C or tranny or both.

Check with U-haul about a truck and towing package to get the car close to you as another option.

Is this your car or someone else's in Wichita Falls?

The cost of repair, towing and pick up expenses could be around
$4000.00. Is the car worth it?

Would it be cheaper to find a junkyard AODE and slap it in there?

Give me a call.

Be sure to "shout out" to some of the members down there. I'm sure someone can come give you a hand (if you need it).

Good luck. Be sure to give me a yell when you are back in Buffalo. I'll buy you a pint or so....

i did shout out to some members! my car broke down when i was leaving the marauder meet in centreville!!! and i broke down in buffalo. go figure.

I decided to go with a combo-idea: i reserved a Penske truck and trailer AND found a cheap AODE in a junkyard. i got a 16ft box truck so i could haul the trailer for the car. yeah, i have a 16ft box truck to put a transmission in it. talk about overkill...
i found a few cheap AODE's around Dallas. I called a place and they have one ready for me.
Im picking up my car and the "new" transmission on saturday and bringing them back to base. At the auto skills centre on base, they have every tool im gonna need. plus some crabby old guys. no offense.
I'll keep "ya'll" informed as the story develops.

I was gonna offer you to haul it to Houston with a HMMWV and I would invite some Houston guys over and knock it out, but sounds like you have it covered!

You may consider replacing your rear main seal while you have the trans off too.

ok, so i have aquired a 93 MGM AODE for $308.52. everything was going well until i got to Penske and they didn't have the car carrier. Apparently, the guy was supposed to return it last night. but he didnt. i waited 5 1/2 hours for this moron to show up. but after that, i got my car and everything was groovy. besides the fact that the car couldnt even climb the ramp for the trailer.... kinda gave it a little running start. i never want to do that again....

left Teague at 458 and arrived at base at 945. nice long trip. and the rachet strap holding the tranny down broke. but thats ok. now, i wont be able to fix it til thursday, because, thats when i get paid. fun times.
at least, its back here.

Good for you CC.

We're all going to school on this in case it happens to one of us on a trip.

1. Get a U-Haul (Penske or whatever) tow car home.
2. Purchase a tranny from a parts yard
3. Go to nearest military base and contact some crabby old men and Vola, problem solved.

Seriously, glad it worked out for you. Hope it all fits and runs. Seems like the problem went from a converter to a tranny, is that right?

yeah, but since i cant fix it til thursday, im gonna borrow someones video recorder and let everyone see and hear how horrible this is/sounds. i hope no one else has to experience this. top speed is 11. my best gear is reverse.
and penske is WAY cheaper.

limped the tank to the auto skills center today. i got it up to 24 mph!!! oh the other hand, i think my car is pissed at it for leaving it by itself for a week. i dented one of my fingers on it. it is being very,... difficult. one more bolt and the tranny is out. then hopefully the "new" tranny goes in.
some girl was in there changing her transmission fluid on a neon. all 4 qts of it. " i cant believe this thing takes 4 qts"
haha, as i empty my 12+ qts out. " 4? thats it?"
****zam. i hurt.

Glad to hear it. I'm assuming you're putting in a new filter in the transmission
:)

Dont forget, Neon Girl cant drain her converter, which probaly holds another 6 or 8!

ok, first, the neon chick had a manual. whatever, it was a neon.

furthermore, the tranny i put in, was 1 inch longer than the one i replaced. so the driveshaft was 1 inch longer. i took 1 1/4 off the yoke of the drive shaft and got it to fit. i even swaped the "rear cones" of the tranny's to get a better fit. and everything went in. i started it. and now im having the same problem from before. the car makes power, but it cant transfer it to the tranny. it sound great when its in neurtal.
i really need help now. i have no idea whats going on. ill post a video of what is sounds like and see if anyone cant help. im supposed to leave here and go home in 13 days. i need to fix this or this car is gonna be junked.
i dont know. i just spent $750 on this and nothing changed. please, any suggestions will help. thank you
