hello i just stumbled upon this site when i was searching about the marauder...

my question is simple... i currently own a 98 taurus sho (thats the one with the v8 if you dont know) and i love the thing, i bought it for under 4 grand, and i was wondering is a marauder worth the extra 10,000 over the taurus? The taurus comes with active ride stablity control so it stays rather poised through the bends, the v8 has great acceleration (expecialy when the second cam kicks in... wonderful) and an awesome sound, it has every option i could think of. Right now it has a air intake, a chip and a exhaust system, which gave it an extra punch.
Do you think i should sell the taurus and buy a marauder?
Does the marauder have greater abilitys than the taurus?
How easy are marauders to upgrade... what can be done with a limited budget?

Keep the Taurus as a daily driver, buy a Marauder.
Make sure it's Black

WELCOME! I think Late 90s SHO tauruses are proabably even rarer than MMs, Only seen 1 in person, ever.

Your call, but the Marauder is able to be upgraded easier than a Taurus, even for us on a budget. Say $1000-1200 in simple mods and the car becomes a beast, and is already very fun even in stock form.

Welcome miller :welcome1: to the MM.Net and the home of the Marauder. We all love the MM here. Check the "Timeslips" section for the state of the possible. Lots of options. I suspect something brought you here looking .... so you know you want one. :D Search and you shall find all the answers to your questions.

No offense to you, but the 3rd gen SHO's are the most dogs out of the 1st and 2nd gen IMO. I owned a 2nd gen and can't tell you how many times I've beat Gen 3's with a CAI/exhaust and my Gen 2 was stock with 147k on it. I would say keep it as a DD. Just look at it this way though. How many Ford cars come with the 3.4l V8? How many Ford cars have the 4.6l? Not to mention Cobra's with the DOHC like the MM's that we can rob parts from. If you think you can make some coin from the SHO, sell it and put it towards an MM and buy some parts for it immediately if you're wanting a quick/er car. My suggestion would be tune, intake, mufflers (if you still want a nice rumble) and 4.10's.

I cannot believe you have a V8 SHO that still runs. Every SHO I have seen with the 3.4 liter V8 had cams made out of butter. Every cam in every car wore clean out.

ok... compared to the 2nd and 1st gens my cars slower.. blame the automatic trans for that... but compared to my friends rx7 and tiberon it woops them (they are both manual by the way)...

as for keeping it, i cant, i own 3 cars already, i have the 98 taurus, the 99 jeep cherokee sport and a 69 dodge charger... any more and my parents would probably kick me out... as a college kid working for minimum wage i dont really have enough money to get my own place

as for it still running... it has 126,000 miles and drives like new, i suspect the guy before me welded the cams because they should have went at about 60,000

actually the reason im asking is because i found a silver one in my neighbor hood, im going to ask them soon if they plan on selling it because it would be an awesome car to own!

Personal preference.

I would sell it.

The Marauder has a lot more fan support. Meaning we have more parts and more comin.

It would cost more to maintain the SHO too.

Ooooooooooooooh, not sure if you want my opinion!;)

Hey, SHO's are cool cars, but no comparision to a MM. IMHO, keep the SHO as a DD, buy a MM for your weekend toy.

Welcome aboard Miller.

Don't worry about what others think of your SHO, if you like it you like it.

I had a great 1986 Mustang GT cobra, that I loved, the car was perfect even with all of its faults.

I now have one of the rare DTR Marauders. I have to say that my Marauder is almost everything that my Mustang was, except being a hatchback, and I have to admit that I don't miss my Mustang much anymore.

The Marauder is better.

Your SHO, which you love, may be good but a Marauder is better.

Should you get a Marauder?

Yes.

Should you keep your SHO? That is up to you, if it is worn out, sell it. If you need a winter or daily driver or can afford two cars, have parking etc... keep it. If not, sell the SHO and get a Marauder.

The Marauder really is that good.

I would keep the Charger for the Dream Cruise, the Cherokee for winter and get a MM in any color that fits your budget.

Enjoy the site.

more venders yes, more fans... i'd have to say no.

being completely bias i'm gona say keep the sho.. lol j/k acutally i was in a very similar spot. i have 2 sho's a mustang and now the marauder. i finally saved enough to get my dream marauder and so far i love it. The v8 sho's are really nice. very refined and well manners and with some 40 series flows sounds dead sexy. if you don't know about it the cams on these cars can spin at any moment. you have to have them welded to repair the problem. other then that they are very reliable cars. check out shoforum.com and v8sho.com for more info and all the sho fanatics.

but in your situation i would keep the sho but make sure you get it welded asap.

If you do decide to keep your SHO, call up Kirk at NESHO to weld those cams. He's a good guy and will hook you up.

Sho owner and Marauder owner, I say get one asap.
I have '92 MTX white W/ slicers 146K , I tried to make it a DD, to keep some miles off the Marauder.
It's not working out so well, I have forced myself to drive the SHO a few times.
I just can't give up the power and comfort.

This is great advice. Comparing a unit body, front wheel drive Taurus to a MM is like apples and oranges. I just don't think you will even look back once you switch. My 2 cents...

But the Dark Toredor Red ones have the same color as Arterial Blood...

Much more fitting for a MARAUDER
