One of our Carolina Marauder members, Butch, lives up in Greensboro. Do a thread search and give him a holler.

I'm still around. Just don't hang out here anymore...
Still have my Marauder. Not much has changed. I think I put MAYBE 500 miles on it in the last year. Mainly take it out for car shows.

Would you be able to meet up one day and help me out with this problem?

Is your belt jumping/vibrating badly?
Does the belt jump more when the A/C is running?
How many miles is on the engine?
Any belt replacements during those miles?
If the belt has more than 20,000 miles on it, replace it with a new one before looking at the tensioner/idler pulley problem. The belts stretch over time, and will cause them to jump and make the tensioner jump. Can even make the belt jump off the pulley.
If the belt doesn't fix the problem, then you can start looking at a tensioner problem. They do get weak and go bad. Not totally unheard of. You can have them checked. They just hook a force gauge to it and pull on it with a breaker bar to see how much tension there is.
Now, if you find that the tensioner is the problem, get it replaced, and you already have a new belt for it.
Let me know how this works out for you. I've sent you a private email also, but reply here if you can so that this message will help others that may have the same problem.
Also, if you are looking for someone to do the work, let me know. My dad has his own business as an auto mechanic for over 40 years. He has had his hands in mine before, so he is somewhat familiar with the MM.
Later!

I'll be glad to meet up with you sometime, but it would be next week. And if you want to see my MM, it would have to be a day it isn't raining. The undercarriage is too clean to mess it up right now. Still have some cars shows to go to this year.
What school are you going to? If it is UNCG, then I know a great place to meet. One of our prior MM.net members is with the campus police and he would love to see some MMs pull in the lot. I'm sure he still misses his MM a lot!
What makes you think you are having a problem with the car? You say you don't know much about cars yet, but you apparently feel that something isn't doing what it should. Explain what you are seeing/hearing/feeling that makes you think there is a problem.
Is the car supercharged?
Have you talked to Zack about the problem any?
If Zack wants me to check anything in particular, I will be glad to.
Thanks,
Butch
The belt has 11000 miles on it.
Its very possible its the tensioner, it was used when I put it on the car.

Hey Zack! How's it going?
I would point at the tensioner also then. But until we hear a description of what problem he is seeing, we don't know. I will be happy to check it out for him though.
Anything else done to the car? U/D pulleys or supercharger or anything?

I go to NC A&T but we can meet up at UNCG if you want. You don't have to bring the MM out, just look at my car to tell me whats wrong. I talked to Zack about it but he said its hard to tell the problem if he can't hear/see it. But he did suggest that i find someone in my area to look at it. I can't feel any difference in the performance but i can hear a tapping sound in the engine bay while im idling and in 1st gear. Some people say its the tensioner/idler pulley and one person said it could be the oil thinning which is causing the tapping.
The Car isn't supercharged.
The tensioner was almost at its stop since I put it on, but I never worried about it cause its NA.
I could speculate for days, but its like spinning wheels unless im there.
Hey Butch, god to see ya around

We will figure out somewhere to meet then, if we don't meet at UNCG.
Yeah, the tapping sound is hard to diagnose without looking. Many things that could come from.
Email me on Friday, and we will try to put a preliminary time/place together for the next week.
In the meantime, lift the hood with the car running, and see if the tensioner or belt looks like it is jumping when you hear the sound. Might be kind of hard to do if it only does it in 1st gear though, but check it anyway. If you have someone put it in gear for you, make sure the emergency brake is on before you stand in front of the car!
We will figure it out. Just might take a week to get to it. Hopefully, you can be patient, and give me a chance to get some other things out of the way, and I will be more than happy to help you out. May bring the MM with me so you can take a ride in a supercharged MM once.
If things seem to get worse, let me know. Be easy on the car in the meantime.
Later!

Anyway...I'm doing well. Just don't hang out here really anymore, as we discussed in the past. The fun left this place a long time ago.
I have about 20000 on the car. Don't remember exactly how many, but pretty close to 20000. Stays parked most of the time now with a battery charger on it. Needs to have the hood repainted. The paint has cracked on it. Was told that it is from the aluminum hood and the paint not flexing with the temp changes it goes through. Probably just going to get one of the fiberglass hoods to replace mine, since by the time I pay to have the OEM one stripped and repainted, I could buy a fiberglass one and have it painted. Going to run it by Ford first though to see what they have to say about it. To me, it is a defect, even if it is out of warranty. It should not have happened, especially as good as I keep the paint on mine. I don't expect much from them though. Would just be interesting to see what answer I get from them, especially if I can get a rep from Ford to actually look at it.
Other than that, things are good. We will have to get together at some point at another meet.
See ya!

Butch, what car shows are coming up?
Just some small local stuff. Nothing special that I would try to drag anyone to. Some of them recently have had a huge decline in the # of entries. Just gives me an excuse to take the car out and show it off some.
Keep me informed of any bigger ones you make it to, especially the Burlington one if you hear anything about it. I'll try to do the same.
The only big show I have been to this year was the Ciener-Woods show in Kernersville. Chip Foose was there along with a bunch of his Mustangs.
Here is a link to some pics from the show. No pics of Chip. Wasn't going to try to fight the croud just to get a pic of a person I see on TV all the time.

This was more important to me than a pic of Chip:
