View Full Version : Hesitation in 2nd gear

well this is how it happens. from a dead stop and i gun it the car accelerates through first gear fine and when it shifts in to 2nd gear at about 4,000 rpms it start to hesitate the car is still accelerating but not like it should it holds at 4,000 rpms for a few seconds and the speed up very quickly it also does this on a 40-50 pull at a 60 pull in second gear it has no problems. what could be the problem and how can i fix it

Do you have an aftermarket torque converter? If so you're probably feeling it modulate into lockup. It can be corrected for in a performance tune.

mine does something similar around 3500. stupid 4 owner car. no way to tell :mad:
Ive found that just keeping the converter unlocked at WOT makes for smoother acceleration and longer TC life

I think you are saying that it wont downshift at certain speeds and stays in second even though you know it can kick down and take off.. I think all of em do it.. You have to be above 25 or in first to see normal wot acceleration we are accustomed to.. I am sure most owners can relate that there is a spot where a Marauder wont downshift but stays in one gear as it accelerates. For the record, I have an 04 with a CAI and a Lidio tune with 3.55's and it has one spot where she wont downshift. I will pay more attention to it and report back where it exactly occurs.
