I was wondering what everyone uses to shine your exhaust tips? Mine are somewhat cloudy and pitted from the previous owner. I'm looking for that "mirror" shine. Any help would be great! Thanks.:help:

A tip for after you get them shiney again...after car washes I use those little windex towelettes to make mine sparkle in the sun.

Mine have not gotten pitted but had a lot of tar and road crap. I used gasoline followed by chrome polish followed by car wax. Because they were not pitted, they look fine now. I had to use gasoline because the chrome polish was too slow to get off the road crap. By the way I use gasoline followed by car wax for the insides of the wheels as well.

I used mothers mag polish and a flitz ball on a drill, worked out great just took along time to get the road crap off.

Just a safety issue, DO NOT use gas as a cleaning product!!! As a professional Fire fighter, I have seen the results from using gas as an agent and the vapors find an ignition source. Kerosine , mineral spirits, ( lighter fluid), diesel, same results. Not completly safe but if you must use a petrol based product, Gas is the WORST choice! Just a heads up , stay safe, .

The only polish that is recommended by Meg's for polishing Stainless Marauder tips is wenol.

I use a product called "WheelWax". Great on wheels too.

Actually, I happened to use Coleman camping fuel which costs a lot more than from the pump! Yikes!

Thanks. I figured I'd get called on that but I have been using it for cleaning various car parts for about 40 years and I'm always mindful of being outdoors with plenty of ventilation and away from any ignition sources. Sometimes, it works better than most anything. I tried using bug & tar remover on the pipes - useless. The gas took all the tar specks off right away.

Tar IS petroleum, gas IS the aromatic distillate. Natural solvent.

JUST BE CAREFUL!!!!

Varsol will remove tar, then use Isopropyl Alcohol to remove the oily film, then polish with something like Flitz.
