Is it possible to hook up a 2nd or 3rd gear start in a Marauder?

This is something that forces you to start not in 1st gear but 2nd or 3rd instead. Very handy when it is icy and you just can't get going without spinning your tires.

I thought it already started out in 2nd, if you manually put in in 2nd. If you haven't tried it, go try starting out in 2nd then switch to (pull it down to 1st) 1st gear and you will see what I mean. It reminds me of the old 1960's FMX transmissions that Ford used. You can correct me if I'm wrong. Just my two cents worth.

I haven't tried it in my CV yet. But at one time all or most of the Ford automatic trannys would start off in 2nd gear if you manually put the selector in 2nd.

Due to Ginny's old neck injury, my heavy foot is too harsh on initial acceleration. I have locked the tranny in 2nd gear on 90 percent of my stops. The acceleration is very smooth and the engine doesn't labor at all due to TC we have. As soon as I hit about 1500 RPM, I just slap it forward into drive and it shifts normally to 3rd, overdrive and TC lock-up. It will still burn rubber on acceleration, 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift--it apparently doesn't hurt the tranny. It works great on slippery surfaces and helps a lot accelerating in a slow turn---That's my experience--I like it

I havn't tried it yet.

In my Firebird it had a button, that would lockout first gear.

In some Subaru's the SVX in particular, the car would start in 2nd gear and only shift down to first if you stepped heavily on the gas pedal, frequently people would destroy a fuse, but not remove it, to force it into power mode all the time.

Looks like I will have to try this out soon, as it is supposed to snow tonight and I don't have my snow tires yet.

thanks for the info.
