Sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully you can get a new car just as good, if not better. But, if you decide to part it out and sell I may be interested in the delete tips you have. (They are listed in your sig anyhow.)

Sorry for the bad news. If I were closer we could re-build it. My friends just finished re-building a wrecked '04 E-350 that had over $12,000.00 in damage. Looks like new and was sold just last week, new owner knows very well it was hit and no issues with it. New one is close to $32,000. with same options:)

It would cost to much to get it East.

Best of luck with others guys Insurance.

I am confused, if u only had liability then why is your carrier paying $3,500?

B/C he also has uninsured motorist insurance.

IMO having to even HAVE such a thing is pretty crappy, not only do you have to pay liability insurance to cover you damaging someone elses property, but you must pay extra to give a bit of coverage against the other guy who didn't bother to be like you and pay for liability against YOUR property.

I do not like "nanny laws" but in this particular case I think liability insurance should be a pre-req for driving or operating a motor vehicle on our roads. The reason is simple, because you're not hurting yourself only - you're hurting the person who's property you destroy and then they get screwed when you can't or won't pay it due to no insurance.

Some states "require" it but often you can get around it by paying the state a fee to be an "uninsured motorist." So the state gets some cash from you but the guy you hit is screwed.

You wanna drive, pony up for insurance!

It irks me because I hear of it SO MUCH these days, people get hit and the driver at fault has no insurance or doesn't even know what insurance is.

Have room at your place for a Towncar L.

You could make the ultimate sleeper car by doing an Engine and transmission swap. Etc...

Part out whatever is left over, mm.net ebay etc...

Suddenly you have the only Marauder L and Marauder seats, console, floorshift, stereo and HVAC.

If you have room to park it you can have a real custom Marauder.

Alternatively you could get and make a Marauder Convertable or Coupe.

You have the parts and with either a Mark VIII or a Thunderbird. Even a new T-bird you could re engine and seat it and have a Marauder like car.

I'm sorry to hear about your MM being totaled. You should be able to make enough from parting her out to get another one.

Also, perhaps the vultures here can wait for a part-out thread before circling? It's poor taste to start calling dibs on parts when the guys car has just been wrecked.

Assuming you had Uninsured Motorists Property Damage. Then your carrier has to pay you for the amount of damage the uninsured driver is liable to you for not to exceed your UMPD Limit.

Is you carrier saying the damage is only $3,500 or are they saying they are paying you a total loss and if you want to buy back the car the salvage value is $3,500? If so what is the total loss valuation they are putting on your Marauder?

Keep us posted on the part out. I would be interested in the left trim piece with the adjustable pedal button and the ABS module (if it is not too smooshed).

First off, let me add my condolences on your loss. That really sucks. If it were mine, I'd be
looking to figure out how to repair it. But sometimes that's just not in the cards.

If you do decide to part it out, I'm not far from you, and would be interested in some of the...
bulkier items... ;)

PLEASE POST US SOME PHOTOS. IT WILL BE EASIER TO UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION, YOUR PAIN, AND ALSO TO HELP YOU DECIDE.

So it has a bent front frame. That is common. That's what FRAME MACHINES are for. There is a very good chance it's an easy fix. It's possible to get it perfect, or so close that it has no effect on the ride/handling.

You can consider having a REALLY GOOD SHOP get it back to mint for you.

I say keep it. A car is like a good relationship, one bad hiccup isn't enough to make me end it, especially if it's been smooth sailing before.

Is it me, or do a lot of estimators seem willing to write off a car as "totalled" these days? I mean, if the damage to the car is less than the value of the car itself, how can it be totalled? Is totalling a car an easy way to wash their hands and be done with the claim? Seems like the estimators overinflate the labor cost.

And....EFF all the uninsured drivers out there. EFF them with a non-lubed ping-pong paddle. Not the handle-side, either.

For you to ask about parts, I would too. I will post pictures tomorrow for sure.

I am still waiting for my adjuster's report to ascertain the damage value. My carrier mentioned that I have $3500.00 for damage in the uninsured motorist coverage. The adjuster mentioned that they do not take the car back. So more than likely if the Jerkoff doesnt have insurance, I will be parting it out.

I did find another 300A with 60k on it, Verrrry clean, in fact better than mine was for a great price. Now its up to what the insurance is going to do.

More to follow.

I am asking the insurance questions to help you determine that you are collecting in full.

Where does the $3,500 come from, amount to have the car repaired, salvaged value of the car or the policy limit for uninsured motorists property damage?

UMPD means you collect againest your own carrier as though the at fault guy had insurance, i.e. pay to have the car fixed or pay for the value of the car. UMPD frequently has a Limit such as $10,000.

Unless its a Crown Vic your car was worth more than $3,500.

The only way they can pay you $3,500 is as follows;

the damage to the car is $3,500

the damage to the car is more than $3,500 and the UMPD limit is $3,500

they have incorrectly valued your car as being worth $3,500 and are paying a total loss.

It just does not make any sense.

"the damage to the car is more than $3,500 and the UMPD limit is $3,500"

That's what Im told. I will look into it closer when I get the GD police report back that takes 7-10days

Dude, I am sorry to hear the she is gone....I do also suggest parting it out. You could make more off individual parts then a sale outright... Ebay is a wonderful thing.
Do keep us posted, as I am sure that all will have a say in a piece of your former Gal.
