The other night the air was cold and no traffic in sight. My favorid time if haveing to commuit. Well with the cool air the motor seemed to have an extra 20hp she ran better than ever. I couln't keep my foot out of it. This made me think how I could have this cold air all the time. These are my thoughts install a small ac coil in a piece of duct work attached to the induction system controlled by a temp sensor to triger an on off switch at a temp above 55 degrees. Use the same condensor as used for the regular ac. What do you think?

I don't know; with the large volume of air(cfm) running across the coil, would be able to cool it fast enough?

is there already a kit for another make or model that you could retro-fit? i cant see a normal ac coil doing the job. btw i hear ya loud and clear on how it runs in the cold air. ooooo its fun

You could go to K&N's website, but its about $300 for their's. JLT is about half that price; kinda wish I'd gotten on a long time ago to see it.

I may be wrong, but it sounds to me like you're trying to "fool" the MAF into thinking the air is much cooler than it actually is. If you do this mod, this is what will happen. MAF tells computer, "plenty of nice cool air coming in here, add fuel." MAF says, "Understood, plenty of cool air incoming, cooler is denser, denser means more oxygen, adding more fuel." Then Mr. Front O2 sensor chimes in, "Whoa, lookit all this unburned fuel back here, I'm sending an emergency message to Mr. PCM. Light the CEL boys, code P2196 (note: the right side O2 sensor is saying the same thing, only he uses code P2198)."

Unless you can physically lower the air charge (thereby making it denser, i.e. more air per specific volume) you will gain nothing more than a rich condition. Your car ran better the other night because it was getting more oxygen per the same volume, therefore was able to burn more fuel. Cold air is dense air. Think hot summer day. Even though everyone says the air is thick (because they are having trouble breathing) it is reall thin (that's why you hit the golf and base balls much further at 90 than 50). It just feels thick because you have to draw in more volume to get the same oxygen contnet.

Funny, I just mentioned this to one of my buddies today as we were heading out to lunch.

Got my PHP CAI installed last spring, and this is the first real cool weather we've had, so I can really tell the difference. Yippee!

if you tried to put the a/c thingy in there wouldnt it make an ass load of condensation?

^, shouldn't have to if all he wants to do is run a coil there, so it would still drip the condensation out of the normal spot. I may be wrong though.
