it was a great weekend at first. I went to the drag strip for the first time and hit up a car show and got a lot questions. and i finally got a clay bar. today was the day i was gonna do the full zaino treatment.

When i got to the hood i noticed it. a ding about 1/2 the size of a dime. its more then just a ding or a sratch..its almost a hole..i stare down and gray is staring back at me. i can see the layers of paint and cc around the side. i was shocked.

i understand we have weak paint. i wasnt naive enough to think this would never happen to me but i never dreamed it was this bad.

i'm 22 and by no means rich. i doubt this is covered under warrtany and i have no idea what it will cost at a shop.
ford's bs quality is gonna cost me dearly. repainting always ends up looking like crap(might be after a few years) or get a new hood which aint cheap.

i feel like writing to ford about this crap.

screw ford
screw ford's quality control
screw the bean counters
screw the st. thomas plant
screw mercury
screw the guy driving the truck that had the pebble fly off and chip my hood. (i assume)
screw this car

i feel like i should just sell my car and buy a piece of **** i dont care about.
As i've heard on here before this car has a soul and when it was looking at me with a black eye it just broke my heart.

i know with more serious issues going on this is really minor but when you care you care.

:mad2: :alone:

thanks for listeing to me vent...

Oh MAN, I've been trying to gather my composure for a reply for a few minutes now, but I can't clear the tears away from my eyes fast enough to see clearly, I'm laughing so hard.

Ahem... okay, I feel your pain. Not all of it, mind you, just a small bit: I had just completed the first application of Zaino a week before, went to wash the car, and on my passenger's side of the hood there is a gouge in the paint the size of a stone chip. Now, this is no normal stone chip, it must have been some freaking stone made of some exotic heavy metal all loaded up with extra neutrons and stuff, because this is one DEEP stone chip. Luckily, it's not ANYWHERE close to as wide as your 'dent', as mine is still visibly identifiable as a stone chip and not a possible alien spaceship crash site. But it still p***es me off how a simple stone can burrow that deep.

I mean, I always felt my GTA had weak paint (remember, it's the car I "learned" paint protection on) but this one takes the cake. (yes, even the damned cake would chip an MM's paint).

I feel your pain ... I'm about to drop 1200 bucks on a new fog light, side marker light, and new paint for front bumber, quarter panel, and driver's door. ARRGGG! I guess the Eibach springs will have to wait. :-(

Some idiot (well, me) was taking a large heavy box out of the trunk and dropped it on the bumper.....Needless to say, there is a major scratch/scuff, about the size of a silver dollar.... My tears are nearly dry, and I have almost forgiven myself... It's all a part of the ownership experience....you get the battle scars...

I had to have my hood repaired also. Hit some road debris and got a couple of dents about 2-3" diameter. Not too deep but scratched paint to go along with the dents. Cost $472, hood removed, repaired, painted, reinstalled, buffed. Lifetime guarantee but I doubt the guarantee covers any future dents I pick up! I feel your pain...

Hey Fat: It ain't easy. very simple you drive 'em you pick up "battle damage". My MM has been "hit 4 times"!!!!! Lucky for me I have recourse to a great body shop. Go sir and seek one out! They are out thier and can do you proud!
Turn your rant to a good thing!

This is why I'm overprotective of my car when she's out of her home... If anyone even looks at her the wrong way I start to pop the trunk and load the uzi... :uzi:

FB,
I feel your pain. My MM is my daily driver. About a week after I got it, I was driving through a construction zone on my way to work. (pretty much all of Kansas City is construction zone) A rock flew off a truck in front of me and smakced me on the hood. Put a couple of pretty deep chips on the hood. Recently.....again on my way to work through the construction, there was something in the road. No way to avoid it.......ran over it. It was some sort of metal. It flipped up and put a beauty of a scratch behind my front wheel on the drivers side. The touch up paint hid that one. I have also put a few self inflicted marks on my baby. I have to be very careful of my cell phone clip, I have rubbed agianst the MM a few too many times with that.

My Marauder's hood was assaulted by a rock that came from some unknown source.

The scratch is almost an inch and a half long, right down too the metal.
Took it to the body shop,$350 to repaint hood.
The owner of the shop sudjested I try some of the touch-up paint from Ford, take your time and fill the hole then sand with 2000gritt and pollish.Guy said for $10 it would be worth a try, then if it still keeps me awake at night he would go ahead and repaint.
Well I saved $340.
I know it's there but I drive the car too much to put it in the shop everytime I get a chip.

just got my MM back from the body shop they painted the lower part of the car from the body mouldings down , the spray from the wheels beat the clear coat off all the way down the sides .
ford paid for it ,it wasnt to much of a battle , i simply to the SM that i paid full price and the paint is comiming off and not even 6 months old , they paid for it .
alot of the problem here is glacier silt , its fine grity sand that eats metal , so every time i wash my car i wash the under the wheel wells and spray the the bottom off , it sure makes a differance .
i also have a small rock chip in my hood and a small ding on the rear wheel well , i guess we can say were lucky that no one has put a serious dent in the mighy MM
