I mentioned this in another post,I found it so here it is.
Do You Fit the Mercury Marauder Customer Profile?
The Marauder Customer
The 2003 Marauder appeals to the customer who wants an aggressive, fast vehicle. They are pro-American and like to live on the edge. Marauder provides them with a great deal of driving pleasure while still meeting their concerns for safety and security, operating costs, easy ingress/egress and value for the money. This customer may have wanted a Mustang Bullitt or Cobra but really needs the passenger space. This page represents a close look at the demographics, needs, expectations and overall mind-set of the target Marauder customer.
Key Demographics
The Target Marauder customer tends to fit within these averages:
Gender - 80-85% male
Income -$60-80k
College educated - 60%
Married - 65%
Average age - 45
Target Customer
Marauder's target customer:
Is a performance vehicle enthusiast and has good technical sense
Is likely to do extensive research on most of his purchases
Will have a strong opinion on what he wants
Has to be active, have fun and be engaged in life
Needs to be true to himself, takes pride and gives 100% in whatever he does
Craves excitement and exhilaration
Has a need for authenticity, integrity and dependability from people, products and services
The target customer also responds primarily to these Passion Points:
Love for cars
Need to set themselves apart
Attention to detail based on knowledge
Need for quality and assurance
Spending time with family and friends
Cost and the Customer
The typical Marauder customer is cost-conscious and is often of the following mind-set:
Willing to pay a premium for a vehicle but only if it resonates closely with "who he is"
Higher priced products driven solely by image offer no appeal to him
Marauder will be part of the household fleet, so image and power are not his only concerns --- it must also have the functionality to accommodate his everyday needs
Cost of ownership is a consideration --- dependability and reliability are important to him --- he expects quality from the product he buys
Aftermarket kits will likely be purchased and will be considered part of the Marauder purchase

"Aftermarket kits will likely be purchased and will be considered part of the Marauder purchase"
Remind your service manager of this one when they try to deny a warranty claim due to the installation of a "Aftermarket kits"..;)

I suppose I sorta meet those criteria, although I'm only 28 & my wife's & my income combined are under $60K. I bought a Bullitt & like to drive something that's different from the norm, so I suppose if I was shopping for a new family car, the Marauder would be tops on my list.

Hmmm, I'm some of them:
Though, single,
do make between 60-80 K (Your taxes pay my salary and car payment btw<G>)
Working on the college degree at a meager 41 years of age
Like performance, but at 6'3" and tipping abit over 250 A mustang ain't gonna cut it (though did when I was younger and a bit lighter)
I love cars, and would be considered a car buff, hence my concern about the titling of these suckers.

Basically, If I didn't have a herd of kids that need a big back seat,
I'd have an Explorer and a Mustang Cobra or 35th Ann CamaroSS.
With my large family and large DOG (will be DOGS next year) I need
as much room as possible. I'd have happily shelled the extra $800
for a STATION WAGON version of the MM. (You ever see an Olds
Custom Cruiser wagon version of the 90s Impala SS?)

Male, married, 44 1/2, 3 kids, 70k, everything but the college education.

I noted that a lot of you that responded are on the young side of the profile age. I am going to help out by letting you know I fit the profile and I am now 50, so that will help the average. I have been a pro-American Union Fire Fighter for the past 25 years. I have always loved cars, especially muscle cars.
I will be in New York City this weekend for a special memorial honoring my 345 fallen Brothers from last years tragedy. Please say a little prayer for them and their families.
Thanks

At 58 I fall outside of the profile, but who cares...I am getting the MM because I like the looks...I have a Trans-Am Convertible if i want a neck snaping performance fix...and I fall below the 60k mark, and I will try to get every penny knocked of the MM that I can from the dealer...pure and simple..He will try to stroke me and My job is to not get stroked...it's part of the game that makes new car buying exciting..

The Marauder Customer Profile fits me well, I'm married, have some college, I'll be 42 yrs. old next month, not quite at $60K but close, I love hot rods and performance vehicles, I almost bought me a Mustang Bullitt last year but decided to wait for the 2003 Cobra, I'm a family man with four(4) kids who needs roominess and comfort so I decided to wait some more for the Marauder, I have a 1989 Mustang GT(5.0) thats in Philly and I crave excitement.

I'm less than half the age of the average owner, so....no, I don't fit the description.

Income -$60-80k (12k or so)
College educated - 60% (in college)
Married - 65% (girl friend)

should read- "The Marauder driver knows he's cool, and keeps it on the down low. Walks softly and carrries a big (ass 4.6L) stick."

The profile fits the 1st generation owner. Obviously, five years later the 2nd and 3rd generation owners fit a slightly different mold.

So does that mean 2nd and 3rd gen owners are "Old Fart wanna bes"?
Just kidding.

Ain't that the truth!
I was known as "Middle Aged Man" in high-school for my predilection to large cars and making sure everyone and everything was "okay."
That profile hit the early buyers pretty well. By price alone, many first-time-buyers were priced out by the mid 30K sticker. When I saw the production version at the Chicago Auto show, I knew I wanted one. I waited about a year, and bought my first one with 30K miles for about $19K... That's closer to the price that people buy their first new car at. (All of my earlier cars were of the $5K variety)
Now that the Marauder is starting to age out, we see many more younger drivers getting into them -- as evidence there are many more teen and twenty something members here on the board!

I got my MM when I was 47. Might be I was feeling 2-3 years younger when I bought it.
My daily driver became an MGM the year after I purchased the MM. Probably I suddenly felt (much) older,,,
