The car is finally together for the year. The tranny has been built, the torque converter has been beefed up and I have slicks in the rear. The tires I used were the BF Goodrich Drag Radials and man they work as well as slicks. I made some passes last night and killed everyone. I lost one race, but I'll get to that later. The times were as followed:

12.952@106.86

13.038@106.05

12.973@106.11

12.906@107.41

12.863@107.06

12.941@106.10

I was very surprized that that closest race was against an ex-police Chevy Caprice who I beat by 2.5 car lengths on a 12.9 run. Killed SRT8 Charger, Trail Blazer SS with bolt ons, 2001 Camaro SS, 1996 Impala (gutted) 2007 Mustang GT with underdriver pullys, headers, tune, intake, gears and not to mention a really nice set of red rally stripes on with paint.... that was such a cool kill. He told me he only ran 13.5. The track was hosting an event that I was unaware of so getting in cost $40 which I wasn't happy about, but the clocks stayed off.... so no one knows what this car runs except me and you.

The only race I lost was against an EVO and here's why; I was all staged and ready to go, but I must have moved foward a little and out of the staging area. I kept my foot on the gas for the launch, but after 10 seconds or so they weren't going to start the race... I moved back just to where I needed to be and soon as I did they hit the light and I was still in reverse and the first amber came on. I threw it into drive and slammed the gas and caused a smoke show for 60 feet or so because I couldn't hook up.... must have looked cool though and I ran a 15.1@109 mph.

All the other racers were asking what I had done. I said flashing lights, 100 watt PA, Sirius radio... nothing they were looking for. :P The hood stayed closed the whole time I was there with no problems or overheating because it was probably about 48 outside. Some could hear the supercharger and knew something was up and others were sure I had a bottle. Another guy noticed I painted my intercooler black and I told him it was a giant tranny cooler.

Next years goal is 12.5 and I'll probably be done with performance mods with the car.... but then again I think we all say stuff like that. ;)

Congrats on your newfound power after repairs and .... your trick comment on tranny cooler. Always fool the enemy with understated looks and comments !! :)

I think I can probably get a better time out of it if i launch higher. I was launching at 2,300 RPM. Those of you who run with slicks what do you guys launch at? Oh and thanks again everyone... this was well worth it. :D

From an idle Dom. The times seems more consistent and the launch harder. It has also improved the 60 ft times.

I'll have try that next time.

Great job Dom!! That whine under your hood could be just a water pump going out!? Keep killing the competition. See ya at SSHS8.

Way to go, man! Great read. I love it when a Marauder shows up and kills everyone:D

Do you have 60' times to go with those ETs? I'm REALLY curious, because I think you are running the exact tire I want to...

Please give the tire size and rim width.

Do you have a link to your garage? I'd love to see all your mods.

Are you running a PI T/C? What stall speed?

I hear the Nitto drag radials are only so-so. But I hear great things about the BFG tires. So, you REALLY loved them? Why didn't you try leaving at a higher RPM? Did you need to warm them up?

Any pics? I'd love to see the wheels mounted and on the car.

I'm particularly interested because the tire is lower profile than the Nittos, so it gives you MORE EFFECTIVE GEAR. It changes your effective rear gear ratio from 4.10 to 4.58 if you are using the 25.6" tall drag radial. That means you are running through the traps at peak power (around 5500 RPM) rather than bogging it down around 4900 as the stock tires do (3rd gear). I think this is probably worth at least another 1/10th (proper trap RPM).

I look forward to your reply!

Yes I was using the Drag Radials. The tire will fit a factory Marauder wheel, but the only down side is it's 26.5 inches tall and not 28 so it will tick off your ABS light. I have a 3500 PI torque converter and I really should update my garage with all of my mods. I did a burnout with the tires in the waterbox and that was all I needed. I do not have any pictures and the car is going away for the winter. I can post some pictures next spring or I can send you a pic of what the tires and rims look like.... just not on the car.

Motorhead, do you have 60' times with those tires?

Please give the tire size. You didn't widen the rim???

Why didn't you try leaving at a higher RPM?

Pics of the tire/wheel off the car would be great!
