After the search feature ... I still have a question or two

The search button is your friend and provided me some answers. :P

I know the difference between a 300A and a 300B and I even read about the transition models. These seems to be fairly reliable motors. The aftermarket looks respectable. Parts don't seem to expensive (I come from the Taurus SHO market).

So, here is the first question(s) from a newbie ... and I don't even own one yet ...

Do I need to find a special mechanic to work on these or will most shops charge me more to work on it because it is a Marauder?
How hard is it work on these motors? I done some on my SHO.

These two should be enough to start.

Hiya, and Welcome!

Any GOOD Mustang Tech should be able to work on the Marauder, imo. Yes, there are a few differences, but it is the same concept.

Any yes, you should be able to do quite a few things yourself if you have the skills.

Any Mustang or Ford shop should be able to work on it without a problem. If they say they need to charge a premium because it's a Marauder I would try to find out if they are charging that because something is expensive as a 4v part or they are trying to just get money out of you.

Our motor is not really that rare. Between the Mach 1 and Marauder there are 27,886 cars out there. Of course there intake goes the other way but for the most part it's the same. Also don't forget that the Lincoln Aviators 03-05 had the same motor as well. So there are probably well over 50k cars with this motor. I did not count the 99 and 01 cobra since they use different heads and other parts and may not have some of the issues that the 03+ n/a 4 valve motors had.

The only time you may want someone who to work on the car that has experience with Marauders is with tunning but I would be willing to be that a good reputable Mustang shop cand tune it just fine.

If I were to buy one today, I would need to look at Hack's. However, I am not buying quite yet, this is my research time. I need to find out the pro's and cons of these beasts before I committ to buying one. :beer:
