Whats the prefered way to break in a MM. As I am gonna use it, or e-z does it ?
Does the aluminum block have steel sleves, for rebuilds ? I live in Texas, with the heat being a major problem, and suggestions as to oil types, ect?

i would use discretion the first 500-800 miles then drive it the way you're gonna. also after those first miles i would change oil with a synth, mobil1 super syn, red line amsoil or roual purple are all good choices and a high quality oil filter such as amsoil, pure one or k&n. hth. rock on rus

There are no particular guidelines for breaking-in your vehicle. During the first 1,000 miles of driving, vary speeds frequently. This is recommended to give the moving parts a chance to break in. This is quoted from the Owner's Guide. Also the recommend oil 5W-20 Synthetic Blend is an excellent choice, especially with the close tolerance of the modular 4.6 DOHC, 32V, plus anything else might void the engine warranty, and you don't want that. It's best to be safe for now.

Talked with my service manager and they recommend using the Motorcraft oil. I offered to bring my Mobil One and there position is I am throwing my money away. Oil choices are similar to beer choices, use/ consume what ever makes you feel good, and won't keep you up all night worrying about it. I will not let my oil change go till 5000 miles. I have yet to buy into that. I plan on changing my oil at 1000 miles then every 3000 miles there after. I will let the dealership do the dirty work as $20-30 bucks is not worth my time.

When I got my 4V, I read on SVT's website to break it in over the first 1500 miles. Also, the top engine speed you reach should slowly increase with mileage. In other words, don't go over 3000 rpm at 0 miles, 4000 at 750 miles, 5000 at 1500 miles or something like that. I waited until 1500+ miles to pull my first dyno. I don't think it really matters unless you are abusive at first. I did it just for the warm fuzzy.

I change the oil on all new engines at 500, 1500, and 3000 miles. Then, change it every 3000 miles.

Hot Rod Magazine dynoed a older 5.0 Mustang (I think) with and without synthetic fluids in the engine, trans, and differential. It gained 8 hp from switching all three from natural to synthetic. That's worth a few extra bucks to me.
