Well, my fellow members and (hopefully soon to be fellow MM owners) I may have found my blue beast. After numerous calls around the East Coast finding a Blue (although sucessful except for the price) I found a reasonable offer, problem is that it's on the West Coast! After being overjoyed, I was brought back down to earth by the fact that it will cost me close to $1K to fly in one way and even more if they flat bed it to me.
The other thing is, speaking to a couple of neighors, they've had problems with a couple of Ford vehicles they recently purchased and have had to bring them back to our local Ford dealership because of problems and in one case a replacement.
How many of you out there have purchased far out of state and do you have any concerns? Advice?
Thanks all!

$1k for one way air? In this day and age of cut throat airfares, you gots to be able to do better.

71,
In February my sister who lives in Vegas, bought an 03 T-bird here in Kansas City. I drove it out to her and flew back. It was cheaper to get a round trip ticket......even though I was only going one way. (This made no sense to me.....but that is how it worked.) I now have a credit on Southwest to use sometime before February. I also checked into renting a car to drive back, one way. That is really outrageous. I would think that any warranty work you might encounter could be taken care of at any Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealership along the way.
Good luck!

Why can't you just order one?

71: I bought mine across the river in New Jersey. I live in Pa. Any dealer will be OK with warranty work.
Let me check on a Blue on in the Phialdelphia area Tuesday. I realy think I can find one for you a lot closer than the other side of the USA.
I will PM you if I find it.

They've stopped building 2003s. He wants Blue, and he wants the incentives/discounts.

The car is in TX, the blue is in high demand now, the incentives end 7/31/03 (although the dealer said similar ones might be available) I would have to fly in ASAP to buy, they can only hold for a couple of weeks with a deposit (supposedly).
With at least 14 days advance purch, can't find one way for under $800. But JG has a point, it made no sense to me either to get round trip, but he's right, R/T is a lot cheaper. I'll see what the dealer tells me tomorrow about my time frame.
BigDog whatever you can do will be appreciated. Although I called just about every LM dealership that was listed on the other threads.
Yeah, yeah I'm a penny pinching worry wart.

71red: If you do this, call me @ 914.582.6262, as it just so happens that sometime after 9/21/03 (when the Marauderville thingy @ Ennis ends) I will be trucking my MM back to NY and we may be able to get a cheaper rate if we are sending two cars. WARNING: Car transportation is not cheap, especially if you want it to ride in an enclosed transporter like I do. I am in the process of finalizing my arrangements, so don't delay if we are going to try and get a "group" (of two??) discount on the flat bed transport of our cars.
