Less expensive = Silverstars

Much more expensive = HIDs

Once you go HID's, you won't go back.

Are the HID kits an easy hook up?

Yes, they are plug and play, and you can get one shipped off eBay for less than $100.

Which brand and "K" do you have?

No matter what bulb you choose, I use a cheapo Zenon that lights VERY white and has lasted years, consider removing DIFFUSERS within the lamp assemblies while you are swapping bulbs.

BTW: The silverstars will still have a tinge of yellow cast compared to an HID or Zenon.

Removal of the diffusers is simple, and can be done without fully removing the lamp assemblies. With the assemblies unlatched and swung down, firmly grab the metal diffuser with one hand while holding the lamp body with the other and pull really hard. They are merely attached by 3 little legs inserted into the lamp body.

This alone makes a drastic distance of illumination change, and tightens the overall beam.

I'm actually installing Nokya (http://www.nokyausa.com/cw/cw8017.html) bulbs in mine as soon as I have the time. I have the Cosmic White for both and also purchased an upgraded harness for the headlamps and will be making a harness for the fogs. These headlamp bulbs are 80watt low/100watt high and 80watts for the fogs and are 5000k color. I've run this set up in several cars in the past and love them. My cost is MUCH cheaper than HID kits. I'll try to get some before and afters when I do the install.

I am so glad I went HID, I'm going to put HIDs on my 89 mustang now not for the looks but because I want to see where the heck I'm going. Remember the higher the K the cleaner and more blueish tinted the light will be and actually puts out less light. I find 6000K is the happy median and cops don't mind them.

SilverSurfer03's 10,000k kit on the left and my 6000k kit on the right.

When I first bought my MM, I had Silverstars in, really didn't care for them, and I paid $90 bucks for friggin PIAA foglights, I couldn't tell a damn difference. Finally I went the HID route and have been happy ever since.

According to my computer they should be a GE H1-55..

I'm guessing that means that they are a 55W H1? That is me just taking what you gave and assuming that the 55 stands for 55 watts and that it is an H1... THANK YOU... I CAN ORDER THEM NOW!

I went looking for some Silverstars for my CVPI and found that the Silverstar Ultras are on sale until the end of the month. Regular silverstars are around $28 and the Ultras are now only $35, maybe even cheaper online. I went with the extra $7 but haven't had a chance to install them yet.

Personally I like the silverstars in my MM and they have lasted very well over the 5 years I have had them.

I too have had my Silver Stars for a while...I have them for the headlights and foglights....and have not had to replace them yet....taking out the diffusers makes a whole lot more light too!!

By the way....I think Wes sells an HID kit for the Marauder...it is plug and play and he is a supporting vendor here....Inovative Interceptors, give him a try.

I put silverstars in my fog lamps not even 6 months ago and one of the bulbs just burned out so I wasn't real happy about that.

As far as doing HID in the fog lamps to each their own. Personally I won't do it on my car since its a DD and goes through all types of weather so I don't want to take a chance of anything getting wet down there.

Once you got HID you will never want to go back lol. I had silverstars to start with and then one night I was leaving work and both low beams were out. Lucky enough I had my OEM bulbs still in the car and switched them. Man thought I couldn't see crap lol. Few weeks later my HIDs came and haven't looked back since then.

Silver Star fogs will last 100 HOURS plus or minus 15 minutes per Sylvania!!!!:argue::mad2:

Both of mine burned out the same day and only lasted about 3 months...I run them all the time day or night!!:shake:

Went back to yellow OEM's and they are still going 3 years later!!

On the other hand the Silver Star headlamps have lasted over 3 years.....go figger??
