A soon as finances straighten themselves back out, my next move is widening my 20's out back and new tires all around.

It has always been difficult for me to find tires even of the same manufacture, much less model for my staggered 18 front x 20 rear set up.

I have found Nitto Invo. There's a 275/40/20 for the rear which matches stock revs/mile (diameter) and a 255/45/18 for the front which is the same as I run now.

Currently, the rear is a Nitto 420S and had great grip for NA, but can be overwhelmed by the SC and has NO grip at the track any more. The front is a 555 and the combo has served me well and still does if I keep my foot out of it.

I learned of Invo from the Mopar guys at SSHS7. It is a popular tire for them on the Magnums. They were running in the low 13's on them and didn't seem to have grip issues.

Also the Invo is a 260 vs the 420's 400 compound, so should have more grip.

If anyone has used Invo (even on a different car) I'd like to know your experience.
I'd also like to know anyone's experience with a 260-ish compound tire and if 275 is gonna be wide enough to get some grip.

Thanx

Rich I wish you luck with getting grip with ANY kind of tires now that you are s/c. :)

They should have decent grip. I have a set of them I'm about to put on my Viper. All the Viper guys I know that have bought a set have spoke highly of them in regards to traction.

So the Viper Guys Really Like these tires. Odd thread pattern but if they Grip really good they might be worth looking into a little more.

Yeah they've claimed better grip then the Pirelli's P-zero's in the same size. That's why I went with them. I'll have them on my car in next week or so, I guess I'll find out.

I am watching this thread as I will have the traction problem in the spring. Keep us posted on how they work out.

Let us know how they ride & Grip. And also how you feel they do in wet & dry weather if you can.

I read an article where a Mustang driver ditched the P-zero's in favor of the same size Invo and got better grip on Invo.

Please, let us know. And what size did you go with?

It'll probly be a few months. Ya'll know how slow I am with this stuff, but I'll be sure to report.

The 420's I run have a bizarre pattern as well, but they gripped WAAAYYYY better than the stock BFG's

My fronts are 285/30/19's rears are 345/25/20's
Just ordered a set of 305/30/19's for the rear of my buddies 03 Cobra too.

I'd love to stuff some 345/25/20's on the back of a Marauder, but that's ALOT of modifying!!! Here is a picture of one of my rears I just took, that's a standard size business card laying on them.

By what Iv'e read from the Nitto web site the Nitto Invo 260 is a much better tire than the Nitto NT555. It grips better and rides smother than the Nitto NT555's.

Agreed. My research shows the same and opinions read online bear it out.

Im liking them. I hardly put any miles on my Marauder anymore so the 260 treadwear should last me for a while. I like the 420's because you can pull a massive burnout and the tires show no sign of wear. On the track I can launch without any issues as far as I know because my only runs so far have been in high humidity. Now thats its cold out, I can't even launch my car on the street with anything more then 1/4 throttle and the 420's light up. My tires are rather new but I think I found a new rear tire to try.
Thanks for the info

At similar HP and TQ numbers as you, my 420's were perfect. They are still a great tire in rain and you are right about the burnouts!!;)

It's going to be a question of what tire has a good compound at this point since we can only go so wide. Several have tried 555's and drag radials as well as KDW2, etc.

Hopefully this new tire will help all of us suffering from overwhelmed traction!

I just went to the Nitto site and all the make for my rears is 295/35/18 which is only a bit over 26" in diameter which would force the use of a smaller diameter front in my situation with the TC!!:argue:

I ran smaller tires before and didn't like the look or feel.....they just don't fill the wheel well enough......maybe these will do better....I look forward to hearing about them!!

Good Luck!!
