Any suggestions for a locale? About 10 years ago I was at this place that made a seriously good Oyster chowder.....it was south of Bellingham, but that's about as much as I can remember.
Supposed to be nice out tomorrow.

It has been a while. I'm up for a meet too if I can get my planets aligned with the selected date before the holidays.
I believe the place you were thinking about is called the Oyster Bar http://www.theoysterbaronchuckanutdri ve.com/aboutus.shtml along Chuckanut Dr. about 11 miles south of Bellingham on scenic state highway 11. It looks right over the water and Chuckanut Dr is kinda twisty and fun from Bellingham.
Working our way a little further south some other lunch ideas might be Randy's Pier 61 (lounge) http://www.pier61.com/index.html in Anacortes, the Tulalip Casino http://www.tulalipcasino.com/index.aspx north of Marysville and possibly Scuttlebutt Brewing http://www.scuttlebuttbrewing.com in Everett (Sat only). All would have decent parking for a few MM's and serve some decent food.
The hard part would be to find a date that works for most everyone this time of year....:)

I'm up for this as well, maybe somebody can post this thread over in Maple Leaf Marauders section with a link here? The borders will be UGLY for us Canuckleheads, count on about an hour either way. We should meet up near the truck crossing and convoy across together, Customs will be easier if we are all in a row with the same story! I'd prefer the Saturday. Sunday traffic back into Canada will be totally STUPID, and I'd like to spend more time driving than idling on this little trip!

I talked to the Oyster bar tonight. They have a couple of groups that afternoon and are closed for a private party at 4pm on Saturday the 15th. They would have room for us (6 to 10 hungry MM's) at the 11:30 am opening time. They recommended reservations as they get busy this time of year and might have trouble putting us all together if we just show up ....So the questions are do we wanta do this spot? How many of us would we make a reservations for? Does someone else want to make the reservation? Be sure to look at the web site and menu in the previous post. What say you?

We can also skip the lines by buying something from the dutyfree shop at the truck crossing. A bottle of water or a bag of chips.

Well, perhaps a 40 of Lamb's Navy but then it would be a very different day. In terms of locale, the only place I've ever eaten in Bellingham is Denny's, and with the greatest respect, I wouldn't make that suggestion.

There is a Red Robin Burger Place at 100 Telegraph Road (zip 98226) adjacent to the Bellis Fair Mall. It should have a decent parking lot and be easy on or off of I-5 at exit 256. There are some other places over in the Marina and I'm not sure about Pubs in Bellingham. Does anyone have any other ideas?
I've set aside the 15th in Bellingham but would bail if snow. I had 3" at the house last night and it's snowing again this AM. Actually thats a good thing as that will probably do it for the rest of this year... :)

Well, us Canucks were going to meet up early (say 0730) just on this side of the line. Seeing as it's the last shopping weekend before Christmas, and the Loonie is at par with the Greenback, the border will be STUPID! We'll try the duty free thing Derek suggested. Anyways, we were planning on doing some shopping if we get there too early.

I think the general assumption is to meet at the Red Robin @ 11am. If we get there really early, we'll employ dickhead parking to save some spots for those who aren't there yet, and just walk to the mall. I have a feeling lunch crowd parking will be BIG as the mall will be full.

The border wait could be 45 mins to 3 hours....never know this close to the holidays. Perhaps we Canucks should try the Aldergrove or Sumas crossing? That way we could "stretch our legs" on the way there. ;)

Sounds like 11am is a good target! :) I hope the crossing goes ok... I'll PM you my cell number if that will help us all keep apprised of ETA's... Since you all have the more difficult to predict transit... I'm sure we can hang tight at the RR if you experience delays.

Anyone want to hook up with Everett NorthEnders for the ride to B'ham? It will be 70 miles and a fat hour ;) to the Red Robin from Everett. Could meet up at the usual spot (128th St Albertsons I-5 exit 186 ) or the Everett park and ride ( I-5 exit 189) at 9:30am and depart 9:45am or bump it up a little earlier in case everyone can arrive a little earlier.

You know... This looks like it's going to happen! I even washed my Blue today ... Brrrrrr

For anyone wanting assemble in Everett, lets keep it at the old meet place at the Albertsons parking lot on 128th street. The Address is 520 128th St SW, Everett, WA. Heading north on I-5 from Seattle take exit 186 (128th), turn left (west), go past 4th to the McDonalds entrance and turn left (south) into the Albertsons parking lot along 128th.
I'll plan to be there at close to 9:30 am and leave about 9:45am for Bellingham. It would be nice to have a count to know how long to wait. You can also PM me a cell number and I'll send mine back to help keep everyone together if someone hits a snag.

I vote for this side of the border since the four of us went down last time. Maybe hop across, cruise down Zero Ave into the valley for a scenic route. Derek, we'll have to pre-run it and see how much of a fun route we can scheme up! The valley has lots of good backroads. More driving, less eating and parking this time around! Maybe some photo ops along the route as well? I used to help organize rallies for newbs in the BC Rally Championship, where it was strictly on paved roads abiding by the speed limits. (to teach them about navigation) I'm sure I've got some old maps around somewhere....

Maybe across the Albion ferry, up to Golden Ears Park?

Whistler via the Sea to Sky highway would be very cool, but quite a drive for one day if you're coming from south of Seattle.
