Since I won't be doing my 4.10s until spring I would like to change the fluid and put on my TA girdle now. I was wondering for those that have the TA girdle (don't know if they all have the same extended capacity "Ford Racing" etc etc) how much fluid do I need to get and put it. I'll also be putting on the stud kit for it, anything special to do for the install of it?

I got 3 quarts of Redline 75W-140. You don't need any friction modifier with the Redline fluid. Nothing special on the install of the stud kit except torquing the nuts and use Locktite.

It will be just short of 3 quarts...Royal Purple works great for me...

I have the T/A Performance girdle on The Blackbird and the Ford Racing one (same thing, both made by T/A) on Phoebe and they both take just under 3 quarts of Motorcraft 75W-140 synthetic.

There are no special tricks to installing either the girdle or the stud kit, just be sure to follow the installation and torque recommendations exactly. You may need to put thread sealant on the girdle adjustments...mine weeped a bit after being installed for a while.

Be careful what they say about the Friction Modifier. I picked up 3 qts. of the 75/140 Redline NS. This one does not have the modifier added. I popped in my 4.10s and fillled with Motorcraft Synth plus friction modifier and am experiencing clutch slip on hard launches with good traction. You can feel the clutches slip and then often get one wheel peels.....

I am going ot install carbon fiber cluches and fill with the redlinie NS and add friction modifier afterwards, only enough to eliminate any chatter.

And yes, be sure to put some gasket maker silicone on the bearing cap studs, They are a coarse thread and will likely leak. the filler and drain are pipe plugs, but a little silicone on there would not hurt either.

This is what I have experienced and what I am doing. But I don't know S H I T !

I have a Moser girdle cover. It's fill plug is higher and it carries more capacity, to boot. I have just shy of 4 quarts of Redline in it.

No noise, no chatter. Runs quieter than it did with the stock cover and the Motorcraft with friction modifier.

Breaks one wheel for a split second and grabs 2... just like it's supposed to.
