:wave:Hey guys,
I'm currently setting up for a new T/C :banana:and 'am installing a tranny cooler. I will be putting in a B&M cooler w/ fan, and 160*thermostat...
Question: How do I wire It up? (no instructions)
Do I wire it this way...
Hot (+) wire to thermostat...
thermostat to (+) fan wire...
fan (-) wire to ground (frame)...
One more question: Where do you get your power from? Which wire can I tap into?
Thanks;)

I would definately use a relay in a fan circuit. They tend to pull a lot of amps.

I am curious as to why you need a cooler w/ a fan?
How much HP are you planning, any road racing?

Scary indeed my friend...This is why I appreciate all the people here (MM site). Without you guys...I would be in trouble...
Hawaii weather can get pretty hot + stop and go traffic (city) + 3500 stall + J-Mod + stomping on it from most stop lights = HEAT. There is no such thing as "too cool" for tranny temps here in the islands...
Just want to be as cool as possible + Because it will mount where the horns are...I'm hoping that the fan will help cool the A/C condenser and radiator as well...which will be behind it...
I 'm always looking to add more Hp...considering going S/C 'ed when the time is right...
Now, back to my question...Tapping off the fan relay is a good idea...How about the wiring though...Is the way I posted correct?
Thanks

It doesn't matter, the thermostat is just a switch.
However, it is not of sufficient amperage to carry the current required to directly power the fan. It will eventually lock either open or closed.
That said, use a relay.
B+ goes to the relay (30)
B+ goes to the thermo switch (IN)
G- goes to the relay (85)
Thermo switch (OUT) goes to relay (86)
Relay (87) goes to Fan +
G- goes to Fan -
Now the thermo is only tripping the minuscule load of the relay coil and the relay is carrying the load of the fan.

Tapping off the fan relay is a good idea.
No it isn't. The radiator fan is a PWM signal.
