Sitting at the stop light on the highway near the house when a bright yellow GTO quickly stages in the next lane.

I looked over and observed a young AF officer with a determined look staring straight ahead. Traffic was building behind us, light turns green and I watched that GTO break the sound barrier within 50-60 yards . He quickly brakes when he spots the LEO in the Mall parking lot. Glad I decided not to tangle with this guy.

I don't know the difference between one GTO and another but this one was fast. Since my nitrous was off for street operations I prolly would be posted as a "kill" on the GTO forums. This guy is local and we'll meet again on the access road to the Lock and Dam south of town.

What makes you think that he didn't post you as a "kill" anyway? ;)

You never know with those.

I have raced many many....many 13-14 second GTO's. Most are of this variety. I have crushed just as many. I have seen beautifully modded 6.0's with slicks and using race fuel and I will take them at the track easily. I have seen plain old black 5.7's with no apparent mods, and have had my ass handed to me.

There are just as many modded 11-12 second ones out there as not. Just like us, they blend in with the others. One never knows until the action starts. They still have weight on their side. Any GTO kill is a worthy kill in my opinion.

You really never know. My cousin has an '05 6-speed, and it looks like a Chevy Cavalier (in his own words.) Even using the Skip-shift thingee, it can still haul ass. I just wouldn't assume that it would.

Yeah, a Marauder beating a GTO, even a stock GTO, is no easy feat. I'm too chicken**** to get my ass handed to me from my own cousin :D

You would be surprised with the 5.7's. A guy at my work has an '04 5.7l with heads/cam and long tubes with the stock piping along with a tune. He runs low 12's consistently at the track.

I handed a 6.0 its rear one day with over 200 pounds of gear and tools in the trunk. The car still had the temp tag and the driver was a little more than puzzled.

In the MM or the Cobra? That's the best when you beat a brand spanking new car that the guy probably just paid over $30k for and he's got the, "WTF" face on.

In the MM. The Cobra is slow right now compared to the Marauder.

Late last year, I watched a new (still had paper tags) GTO with only 1 mod (100 shot) run low 12's. Those things are quick!!!

To bad such a great powertrain went into such a cheap looking body. (And I am a GM fan from way back.)

You need to get an electric bottle opener, so if you run into this on the street, you wont be unprepared.

Pat most of them are fast so beware. I agree with the electric bottle opener,
