This is an update from my Engine Knock thread.

I had my car shipped back to Maryland to a local shop that my friend works at (Shop One). They broke down the engine and told me that i had worn my bearings and i also didn't have any oil, but Zack said he had changed the oil before i bought it:confused: He said i was lucking that it didnt lock up. The top half of the motor is good but the bottom half is where the problem is. The shop gave me an option of either buying a crank kit or buying a 03 cobra motor, but he advised that i just buy a crank kit because the engine is still good and only has 17K. The Crank kit is going to cost me $3000 and the new motor will cost a few hundred under $5000(free labor either way:D). Does that seem correct?

There is no way a stock crank kit costs 3000.00. I may have a perfectly good crank here bearings are listed below with a new crank.Did you ever check the oil, this car did have a real oil pressure guage in it as well, but the 04 Cobra long block is a very good deal for 4500.00 this is complete with oil pan, front cover and valve covers, but if this man is charging you three grand for a crank kit I would take the car some place else.

Im sorry to hear your troubles.
That car served me very well for the 14 monnths I owned it.

Just to re-clarify:
The engine has 3k miles LESS than the chassis. It does not have 17k.
That would mean the enngine has probably 30 some thousand on it.

Yes I changed the oil before you took possession. It was full. How many miles have you put on the car? Has the oil been changed since you bought it?

Lastly, have you forgotten my offer of a 7500 mile crankshaft for FREE?
I also have 7500 mile pistons, rods and bearings. ALSO FREE.
You pay shipping.

I dont want to speculate what has happened to that engine since I sold it, Id rather help you and get you back on the road.
$3000 for a crank kit is like taking it up the ass with no lube.

I don't remember you offering that deal but I'll take it with no hesitation. THANK YOU:bows: Since i really don't know engines, what else would i have to buy for the shop to install it?

I've put under 3000 miles under it since I bought it. I was planning on getting it changed due to too long road trips(total still under 3000 miles) but i never got around to it.

THANKS AGAIN...I'll call you tomorrow for payment and where to ship

You need head gaskets, head bolts, new oil pump ($60)
New rod rolts.
Maybe a passenger side exhaust gasket.

From years of experience, i would replace the entire engine with the running motor Fordnut offered.
Then I would sell the heads for $750 and the block for $250.
You could sell the 98 Cobra timing cover for an easy $100
You can sell the timinng chains, guides and tensioners for another $100 or more.
Thee cam covers, being powdeercoated black would sell for $200 easy on ebay. I got $244 a while back for stock covers.

What i just listed will bring in $1400.

What is the most valuable is knowing you will be installing a known good engine and not seecond guessing the work done by the shop.

I've sent you PM's about the motor but i never got a response

That's because you're asking things that have already been answered or don't make sense.

You want me to vouch for it. If I tell you or anybody else about it, that's vouching for it. I heard it run before it was removed from the car. No knocks, no ticks, no smoke, no misses, no abnormal noises, no vibration or other bad behavior.

It is a complete '04 engine with 16k miles. The valve covers look kind of scaled and dull, that's the way the unpainted valve covers on the '04 models get sometimes.

I won't offer a warranty. It's not mine and I'm not making a profit from it. I'm just trying to help out two people. One who has an engine to get rid of and another who needs an engine.

It's in Atlanta, transportation or pickup will have to be arranged. I may be able to help some with this but since I no longer work in that area it's about 200 miles out of the way for me.

Too late, a sale is pending on the engine now.
