I've decided it's time to let someone else have all the fun. Actually, I bought the car when I was still a traveling salesman. 25 months after the snot-nosed 24-year old new manager downsized all us older guys (actually, I call it being fired), it has become pretty apparent that nobody wants a 61-year old salesman like me, so the love of my life--after my wife, of course--is up for grabs. Since I don't have a job, I don't need this expensive a car to drive to church on Sundays. The 13th green is right out my back door, so I don't need it to drive to the course, either.

The car has had Royal Purple since the first oil change. It has Royal Purple in the Tranny and the Rear End. It has a Reinhart tune and I'll throw in the XCal2 that has the Reinhart tune and the factory tune on it. It has PHP cold air induction and the ProGuard to keep the rear bumper from sagging. I had the factory spoiler added and the gods head on the grill, trunk, and steering wheel. There is a brand new set of floor mats in a box in the closet that will be included.

The car has 25 months and 51,000 miles left on the extended warranty. The car doesn't look much different today than the day I drove it off the lot January 31, 2005. It has never been north of the Mason-Dixon Line, so it doesn't know what salt is. To be honest, I'd really hate to see this car go into the wilds of the North, but what I don't know won't hurt me, I guess.

The first person who shows up in Richardson, Texas with $23,900 will get me to sign the adoption papers on my baby. I refuse to apologize for any tears that well up, though. Just in case, no cameras will be allowed, so it will be my word against the buyer's, just in case I do cry.

Thanks guys,

Steve Schmitt

Steve, would LOVE to take this off your hands, but the price is a little high for me. Let me help you out with the pics, the ones you posted are a wee small.

When I first tried to attach them, it wouldn't take them. Said the files were too large. I'm not very up on compressing files. Obviously did something wrong.

In reference to the price, this MM is like a new car. I doubt if there are any new ones floating around, but, if there were, the price would be significantly higher than the price on mine. I don't have to sell it, but since it was my salesman car, it's getting hard to explain to my wife why I still have it along with my Corvette.

Actually, only one of the cars needs to go. If someone wants to buy my '03 'Vette, I can keep the MM. The 'Vette gets a helluva lot better mileage, too!

The pics I posted were ones he sent me when I inquired about the vehicle. I think the pics he posted the car is washed, just too small to see.

Steve, e-mail me some new pics if you have the MM washed and I'll put them up for you.

thanks a bunch. some day when I grow up, maybe I can work with computers, too.

what is the significance of faux 5.0? faux is french for fake. 5.0 is metric for a 302, but I can't make the connection.

lol....I told my g/f that I wanted a MM and when she saw one she said it looked like a cop car. 5-0 is slang for police, so Faux5.0 = Fake Police...probably should have it as "Faux5-0" :dunno:

thirty years ago when I had a CB, I guess I would have said "10-4".

Just be very wary of anyone who adds "good buddy"--especially if you're in a rest area.

I think they are all great looking--well the silver does kinda look like a Grand Marquis. If the Dealers hadn't killed sales of the car by overcharging for it, Mercury would probably still have it in the line today. It's a real shame that Ford allowed the greedy bastards to kill the car. Same thing is gonna happen to the GT500. Best anyone offered to sell me one for was $15K over sticker. My Mama might have raised some dummies, but I'm not one of them.

that only proves that there is a basis in fact for the old adage that some people have more money than brains. I still giggle about the geniuses who paid two or three times sticker for the '76 El Dorado--because "it was the last of the convertibles".

Wow! I thought I bought mine at a good price, but you go a helluvalot better deal than me. Plus I paid Ford Motor Company a major chunk of change on top of that for the 5-year 100K warrantee. Oh yeah, then the State of Texas added 6.25% sales tax. First your money, then.......

My new car should be arrive in the next 6 - 8 weeks, so I guess I would entertain reasonable offers. Cathe has a good sense of humor, but she's already told me I can't have three cars.

Kelly Blue Book says it's worth $19,710. They may or may not take into consideration that it's a collector's car. I think mine is worth more than that, but as delivery of my new one closes in on me, I might be forced to change my mind.

I can upload different sizes in the members gallery, but not here. I liked the reply to my puote, for our friend Bill Bonodiman. He had it set, I called the same transporter I'm using to move my car and they were willing to take $300.00 off. I have a car on the west coast not far from where he's from, would have been perfect for the both of us. They were going to load mine out there and get it here in enclosed trailer no less, unload it and load the MM and take right to his door, yes door to door one trailer, on and off. Well good luck with your sale, and it's not financial I'm disabled and the MM is a little on the long side after 11 surgical procedures performed on my back, my torso does not twist any more. And when I say surgery, I mean 6 - 13 hour procedures, the last one was on 2-14-05 they removed 9 screws and some rods, they found 2 screws on the nerves after wondering why I had so much pain this took a year and a half. They couldn't find anything in the x-rays. Well enough said, good luck with sale, she a beauty. Go to members gallery, under ITLRUN you'll see a photo of my last x-ray, oh yeah I still have some hardware left, there's even a copy of the title of my MM it was paid for the day I purchased it. Best of luck, and Happy New Year!!!!!! Mike D. ITLRUN.:run: Almost forgot, I put the price back up to $17K and took the software out, to the right person who's serious I'd put it in.

Your opinion that a silver MM looks more like a GM is totally unqualified, as is mine, that a DTR more closely resembles a GM than any of the MMs. Regardless, I happen to like them all whatever color they are.

I'll try to take a pic of engine and trunk tomorrow, but the only mod is a PHP CAI from Reinhart. The price is negotiable to some extent. but there isn't going to be a fire sale. My new Corvette is supposed to be delivered in about a month, and I sure don't need 2 Corvettes and a MM--at least, that's what the war department tells me! It boils down to whether the '03 'Vette or the '04 MM sells first. The truth is I'd rather keep the MM, but one of them needs to go, if I'm going to keep peace in the family. Cathe might be little, but she's tough.........and I'm old and decrepit! If I were a car, they'd have sold me for scrap a long time ago.

Nope. I'm now the proud owner of the Marauder, a 2003 Corvette coupe, and a 2008 Corvette convertable. Needless to say, the MM isn't getting very many miles put on it these days. I don't need 3 cars, but I'm not going to give the MM or the '03 away for the laughable offers that most people have made. So here they sit, pouting and wimpering.

Wow, sounds like you shafted a dealer pretty nicely there.

And to everyone that was criticizing his choice in asking price, who cares what the blue books say, we are the only ones that are hurting our own resale value by selling them dirt cheap. Keep them higher priced, these are collector's vehicles, lets keep them worth something.
