My 04 Marauder has developed an unfortunate problem. The center console armrest has torn slightly. It is both unsightly and uncomfortable.. I talked to the dealer and they can get me a replacement for $140, but I don't want to deal with the same problem again in 60K miles... Has anyone had/solved this issue? I know it was common on many Ford Trucks. I am trying to keep it looking as stock as possible BTW... Thanks in advance!

Wow, I have 65k on mine and thet piece is unscathed.

I may have a piece of black leather large enough to recover it if you want me to look. Not sure how good it would come out if you do it yourself. May want to look into an upholstry shop to help out.

$140 fo just the top? That's a lot.... Could get custom work done on the cover for that I think.

I just had to replace the same piece in my marauder. It is not just the top of the console. It is an assembly that includes the piece that drops into the console with the lid attached to it. That is why it is $140.

Re-covering it yourself is not hard. Just need material, screwdriver, staple gun, scissors (or razor blade) and spray rubber cement (3M90).

Heck, send it to me and I'll do it.

Magindat, can you re-cover it in suede? I'd provide all the stuff and shipping both ways.

Yeah after the holidays is fine, I'll have to go to the fabric store and find some suede that is close to the oem interior color.

Go somewhere that has upholstery, not just fabric so that it's tough and fade resistant.

Gotcha, thanks for the tip.

Be careful removing it. The dealer broke the inside clip that retains the drop down unit.

I've had mine and many others out about a bajillion times. Trick is pull STRAIGHT up.
