It all depends on what you want from the tires, year of car, and if you have a tuner.

Let us know what you want to do and we'll point you in the right direction

Search for the tire calculator on this site. Everything you want to know about what tires will fit on an MM.

You will NOT find exact matches.

However, if you use the rule of thumb, or in this case a ruler....

To avoid traction control issues and your having to constantly turn it off to avoid the warning, you must find a front rear set that comes really close to the same circumfrance and or heigth as the oem setup.

Many, if not most of us do not have traction control and have found that the car is very drivable without it. I drove with 16" snows one entire winter and could have cared less. The traction nanny is really not needed for those of us whom grew up without it. It really isn't neccesary.

You can pull the fuse (I assume) and permantly disable it, turn it off each time you drive the car, or just ignore the warning.

Now more to the point. If it is just the rear tires that bother you, just as they have for most of us, replace the rears only with one of several tires on the market that are really close, I mean less than an inch in heigth to our oems, and likely the t/c will never notice.

I for one use Nitto 420s in the rear only as a summer tire.

Research the old tire threads by using the search funtion, or just be patient and hope more folks offer their suggestions again....and again...

Good luck, and welcome to the site. ;)

One of the members here on MM.Net did an extensive research exercise and published a "Tire Matrix" more than a year ago.

I think it'll answer many of your questions.

Lots of tires fit. What works is a different question.

A ton of information there. Props to Breadfan

My real world experience. In summer I run stock BFG's. Pros; Well, they are stock. Decent treadwear. Traction control works. Cons; limited availabilty, fair dry traction, terrible wet and snow traction.

On the weekends in the summer I have run Dunlop Super Sport 245/35/18 on 4 wheels. Pros; Stick like glue, fit on stock wheels. Cons; Traction control does not work, low profile leaves a big gap in the wheel well, not available any more:help:, short life (less than 1500 miles on the rears).

In the winter I run Hankook Icebears 235/55/18, 255/50/18. Pros; Good snow, slush, ice traction. Decent treadwear. Traction control works. Fits on stock wheels. Cons; Expensive, fair deep snow traction.

I have also run a set of Pirelli PZero 255/50/18 on the rear. Pros; Good traction. Traction control works. Fits on stock wheels. Cons; Expensive, limited tread life.

My thoughts run along the following lines. Good tires cost real money. Stick with stock-ish sizes, the designers at FORD set up the car like this for a reason. Traction control is nice.

It is hard to make a recommendation without specific details as to what your needs, wants and budget are.

If you could give more information about car mods, location, type of driving, budget, etc, I think we can give you better answers.

research research research.

Tirerack.com is a great place to find some tires that work.

Other places and tire companies exist.

Nokiantyre.com

Check the other makers if you have a preference.

I myself have always liked Goodyear and Bridgestone.

However, I may pick up a set of 18" Nokian WR2's next.

Indeed they are. I cut a 2.02 60' time at the track with these after a short warmup. I basically spun them just enough to knock the rocks and pebbles off as street tires don't get traction well when hot.

Ha. Never seen these before. Not bad. I was thinking about: falken ziex s/tz01 255/55 r18 109 w

Can get them at http://www.tires-easy.com/start.html for $105 a piece!

Kind of beefy aggressive tread pattern.

When I looked at them just now, think I saw them rated 'W', which is higher than Z. I think 'W' is 186 MPH, but not definite...

I am running these on the rear http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/findTireDetail.do?rcz=76179&rc=TFWINT&cf=false&c=5&sw=false&cs=255&pc=44525&rd=18&ar=55&tc=YOKRH5&rf=true

I like them, always get comments about how nice they look. Little noisy is my only gripe.

Man, that is A LOT to pay for an 'H' rated tire. The Falkens are 'W' and cost nearly 1/2...

Unfortunately they don't have a 255/45/R18 summer tread for the front, which is what I really want. So, if I get the Falkens (falken ziex s/tz01 255/55 r18 109 w, $105 at http://www.tires-easy.com) for the rear, I'll probably go with Riken Raptors for the front. $110, each. At least they are both animals:D

I'm using the Falken Ziex STZ01 255/55-18. so far so good. running them at 28psi cold. since I've had them, I've noticed a little road noise. no biggie. sometimes I don't even hear it.
