Just got in from shoveling my driveway and I'd say I've gotten about 6" to 8" of snow so far.

Winter has come early to the "hills". We've been dealing with it since the 3rd week of November. When I went to work Saturday night it was already 7 deg F and dropping. Way too early for this kind of cold. We are expecting lake effect all day today. Most schools around here were delayed this morning due to ice storm last night. Global warming my azz....

And we got hit with the freezing rain/ice storm here in Iowa. Many roads closed for better part of the day on Saturday. Then mid-afternoon it started warming up and it turned to rain and washed away a lot of the ice on the main roads.

Still driveways that look like skating rinks and some slick parking lots, but the main streets are pretty much all clear and not much snow this time around for us...

Got 4" yesterday, and was able to make it home okay. Today another 4-9" forecast. I have on all-seasons M&S and they get really tricky, so when the Xmas bonus comes in I'm going to look on here and see if there are any snow tire packages left, if not I'll guess I'll give Tirerack a shot. The wife's Maxima with all-seasons can go anywhere in this stuff.

Wow, what does it take to close the schools out there? Here it would be 10+ inches and drifting or windchills of -20F.

Around here, a near blizzard. We got about 6" yesterday, 15+" overnight, high winds and its still coming down as I write this. Thank you Lake Ontario.... Just for perspective, last winter was very warm until mid January. We were then hammered for the next 7 weeks. We burned all the snow days and some spring break time. Not to mention the kids were off for winter break during that time. We ended up being above average for snowfall, all in that 7 weeks.
