Hi all, I just thought I would post this as I had to fix a friends compass the other day. If any of you guys have one that the screen goes out and you have to whack it to get it to come back on, this is how you fix it. First off you need to get the thing down, just take out the three screws one in the front and two inside the back. Then... well just pull like you are trying to break it :) the clips are very strong. When you get it down unplug the one cable from the top and then remove the compass module, take the plastic off around it and then look for three SMD (surface mount) resistors, they look like the same ones that I posted about in our window switches. Carefully re solder the resistors and everything should be fine. I wish I had taken some pics but I had to fix it quick and didn't have much time. I hope this helps out.
