I used the search facility keying in on "gurgle" and "heater", but couldn't come up with enough to satisfy me. Heater brings up about 50,000 posts.:)<G>

I only just noticed this phenomena for the first time this late fall - a bit of heater gurgle when starting the engine cold. It does seem go away after heating up. I presume others have noticed this as well and consider it a normal CV/MM/GM sort of thing?

Thanks....

sounds like frozen coolant in the heater core to me. It comes from the right side of the dash, correct?

I have it in the Blue MM.
It NEVER goes way.

I had gurgling and heater issues (i.e. no heat unless I was moving) until I topped off the coolant by filling it at the top of the cross pipe. This is the highest point in the system.

One Bad: Yes - it seems to come from the right side. No, it can't be frozen...the car sits in a protected garage that hasn't gone below freezing - or coolant freezing - temperatures yet.

Zack ("..it never goes away..."): Thanks for the good news.:bigcry:

GoMyFuni: Did check the fill tank...I couldn't fill it fuller if I tried. I didn't try putting in coolant at cross pipe. Maybe some air is trapped at that level.

It's funny....I put the 'stat in last summer. Went all last winter with nary a noise, and now this just crops up out of nowhere.

Thanks so far guys...some good thoughts.

It's got nothin' to do with the fill tank. Fill it at the cross pipe. I remembered reading a bunch of threads on it and tried it. 100% better.

hahaha My car has done that since day 1. First time I heard it I called up under the dash and pulled the carpet up to make sure nothing was leaking.

Well I am told that there is a factory defect from FOMOCO on the panther platform from the housing to the firewall which sometimes causes a leak but always makes noise. It may be nothing with yours but I have had two other FOMOCO products that did the exact same thing until it just went out. I have coverage on the MM if it does but nothing will be done uless it leaks. Best of luck hope that its just an annoying noise!

You have air in the system that must be bled out.

And that's done by loosening the threaded fitting on the front water crossover point and bleeding it from there? Or is there another method for this car?

Wondering if the core is rusted up inside, deposits....

Remove the fitting and fill it there; not at the reservoir, not at the radiator. This is the highest point in the system.
