I was just curious to know that with the rising gas prices what gas you put in your car....Do you always go with the same filling station? Or do you just look for the least costly gas from what ever station? Do you go name brand like Exxon, Shell, Velero, BP or do you go with non name brand like from your H.E.B., Walmart, Kroger, or Albertsons because it all comes from the same place anyway?
I usually put in the same gas from the same name brand station but it is getting real expensive, so I thought I would see what everyone else's opinion was.

Only the best, my friend. Cheap gas can leave deposits on the back of the intake valves, which these engines are known for.

I use Shell V-Power (93) in MA, or Sunoco 93. Stay away from cheap, unknown quantities.

If I could get BP, I would use that stuff. Whenever I travel, I use BP and LOVE it. :D

I usually use the Shell or Exxon or Sunoco near my house - whichever is cheapest. If I'm out of town I'll try a Sheetz which usually has a good price. I will not patronize Citgo as long as that thug Chavez is running Venezuela.

Mike.

I didn't think the Valero was a premium gas brand. We have it here in Bossier City too.

I try and stay with Chevron.

I use two neighborhood stations that get a lot of traffic so I know the fuel does not get stale. One is a Hess and the other was Texaco but recently changed to Citgo. Depends on which direction I am driving, plus the Citgo actually has a full-serve island. When out of town I try to stick with name brand stations in busy locations.

BP, Exxon, Shell and Hess. I tried using gas from a discount place and got half of the normal mileage only to save $0.05 per gallon.....so I thought lol.

I'm boosted so I tend to stay with the same Cenex station if at all possable. We generally get 92 octane up here, but Cenex has 94 octane. It's a 10% ethanol blend, but hey, it's 94 octane. :)

I don't have a choice. There is one station in the entire metro area where I live that offers higher than 91 octane. It's a convenience store near the college campus. It has 93 ethanol blend, so that's what I use.

Umm...ethanol is probably the part that gives it the higher octane!

I use a mix at Husky/Mohawk (Canadian gas chain). I use their bronze grade (90 octane!) for half the tank, and their gold grade (94 octane) for the other half. Cheaper than a full tank of mid grade (92), with no knocking/pinging issues whatsoever. This is for daily commuting and such, with Lidio's 91 octane SCT tune. Weekends and trips/time off, I put half 92, half 94 and use Lidio's 93 octane tune. Again, no issues with ping. Come summertime and warmer temperatures, I may go 1/3 full lower octane, 2/3 full higher octane.

Sunoco 93 always. Usually from the same station 2 miles from home.

Chevron when I can get it (usually when I'm down south). Back home, Mobil from Evans, one of the last of the indepentants.

Sunoco 93 only (99% of time). Didn't see that on the list. ;) Where should I vote? :dunno:

I will use Exxon 93 in a pinch (the other 1%).

You can vote on the namebrand section....I couldnt possibly name every station....plus we dont have those here....so I didnt have that name on my mind...I tried to think of the ones I knew in a haste.

I figured since it is the largest refiner in North America that it would be a premium brand.......

Number of Wholesale Markets: Valero markets products in 44 U.S. states, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean region

But I never use them to put gas in the Marauder. I think that was my first tank of gas in the Marauder though since it is the closest gas station to the dealership where I bought the Marauder.

BP (93) all the time, I'm lucky to live close to three of 'em so I usually get to shop around for a good price before another raises the price

Sunoco 94.

If traveling, preferrably Sunoco, then Shell or Mobil. Lastly, BP before a Mom & Pop.

Esso, I get a discount because my Dad worked for them.

In England I used to use Q8 or Total.

They have BP in NY??? Never seen one. That's not fair! I love that stuff, man. I swear I can feel a difference, and even get better MPG...

Those Limeys really know how to make gas:D

I used to use the cheapest 93 octane I could find - usually Racetrac. Then I read a thread on here about quality and tried Chevron. Car ran better within a few miles, really likes the Chevron better. So that's all I use now.

Sams Club 91 the highest I can get in my area. Runs fine no problems. I was talking to the attendant and he said the sell up to 3 tankers a day! No stale gas there.

I've used Kroger 93 for over 50,000 miles with never a ping, studder or loss of power--still chirps on shifts--tail pipes clean as a whistle--pluges changed at 80,000 miles--all 8 clean. Use Techron concentrate ever 10th tank full. Same station--top of a hill--excellent drainage. At times, there is over $ .20/gal difference. The quality has been constant without a single batch giving me any trouble--just lucky, I guess.

Shell V Power 93 same station near home. Have been forced to use 91 octane on trips to higher altitudes but have never heard any ping from it. Try to stay with Shell consistantly.

I use Shell 93 or Sunoco 93 whenever possible - and spec. when running a 93 tune. Hess always seemed fine for my GM (87) but I immediately noticed a power difference between Hess' and Mobil's 91 and the others - so now I avoid them both (and Citgo as well ....politics:o).

Petro-Canada. Because

- my company is using it, so do I
- of their proximity to my job and to my home
- and, mainly, it is here nearly the only one to sell the '94. Others - Shell, Esso, etc - offer '91 as the upper grade.

I usually try to use Sunoco 93, but recently the local Sunoco station lost its mind and went to $3.80 a gallon. Considerably more than the Mobil and Valero in town. My car loves Hess, but nearest station is 25 miles away.

I use Hess 89 middle grade on my 03 and have had no problems with it, no pinging or engine issues. My friend at work has used 89 middle grade on his 04 MM since day one with no problem. I talked to a Ford engineer who said that the engine will not have a problem going down a grade because the computer will compensate the lack of octane the not produce the full horsepower much like the Toyota's claim to have 268 horsepower in the Camry but neglect to tell customers that is if they use 91 super or higher, and that's not why people by Camry's to pay for expensive gas so the put regular 87 and drive with no problems not knowing they do not have the full horsepower. But anyway I can't justify spending money on something that just burns up anyway and I not racing everyday that I need 303hp to get to work. Sorry for the ramble just my 2cents.

Hope your luck holds out. Guess I just don't understand why folks would go out and buy a performance car like the Marauder .... then run it and treat it like it was just another GM. What's the point? I suspect that you are sacrificing some of those MPGs and its "savings" at 10 cents a gallon in lost performance and possible engine damage. I wouldn't be racing AT ALL on 89.

Why????

Who said anything about racing?? When you drive nearly 60 miles a day to/from work, the bills add up. I run it down to 1/4 tank for the weekend, then put in the 94 octane and SCT 93 tune. Come Monday, detune to 91 tune and 90 octane fuel. Knock sensors do the rest!:)

Hmmm, we infer different things from that post. I assume he means he doesn't race going back and forth to work, so he uses lower octane fuel.

I don't race everyday either, only on weekends or at the track. BTW, just back from flogging with one of those Colbalt SS things. Without a good driver, the fronts just spin like crazy. I had little problem putting him behind me. (PS- It's the weekend= 94 octane and 93 tune!;))

That is exactly what I ment not going realy fast and or RACEING back and forth to work about 50 miles round trip so thats why I use the middle grade. I have 107,000 miles and have not had any problems using lower grade gas and I bought the car because I liked the bad ass atitude look of the car not because I wanted to pretend I'm retired and driving a GM because of the octane I choose........

I use QT here local, but recently tried some Murphy's/Wal*Mart 91. same 340 miles per tank, and no percievable loss in power. the shell near here is 20 cents higher, and the car does not like it much. it likes Flying J the best, but none near here. (it likes the 100 octane at the Conoco downtown too, but pricy)

Sunocos are the only gas stations around that sell 94 octane... Most others have 92, with the odd 93. On top of that, Canadian Sunocos have a points card, where you earn points for the purchase of Ultra94. I basically get a car wash or $10 bucks back, every 5-6 weeks.

I pump up with 91 Octane at the Sam's Club in Council Bluffs, it's 15-20 cents a gallon cheaper than having to buy gas in Nebraska. The difference is taxes....
