Hello All,
I'm considering adding Nitrous to the MM.. I was just curious what other members here have run with the "juice"... and of course what other mods did/does the car have?

Member pat has NOS and will most likely chime in. There are other members too, but he's the only one I can think of right now.

go to the timeslips page, power adders are listed, start on page 2 for Nitrous only cars
Thanks Raudermaster for the lead in.
Yes, I've been on the juice for more than a year but I don't get a chance to use it much. However, at MV-V I ran a 13.5 with no car preparation and a 92 degree outside air temp.
I like it because it gives me a lot of power with minimal expense. But it's not practical to run with it "on" all the time, $4-5 a pound for refill. A remote bottle opener will solve that but they are pricy and use a lot of electrical juice.
But it's a blast on those "special" nites. If you live in a big city with wide and long bulevards like San Antonio then it's "bar the door, Kayte".
I'm running a 100 shot wet system by Zex with a traction controller device thats programed to fire the Nitrous at 3.8K RPM
Member- sabtaj1, has a 125 shot and he's in the 12's.
I have 4:10's, a PI 3500 stall converter, Lideo tune and JLT CAI.
It would be no problem for me to be in the 12's with drag radials.
Cost about $500.00 for the system and a few hours of your time if you can install it yourself. No special tools required and there's ample instructions on Dennis Reinharts forum here on this site.
FYI - there are other items that must be taken into consideration, copper or iridium spark plugs (stock plugs may melt), a nitrous tune to prevent detonation and a reliable source of nitrous gas supply (some shops have closed up that service due to cost factors (theirs).
Plus Pat is hard to beat with a NA car! He has a nice system set up right.

I spray a Zex 125 shot. Had it tuned. Third bottle and now I have rod knock. GET a Bigger fuel pump, I think that was my down fall. I will fix it forged and spray 150 shot then we will see.
PS the Zex dry kit fits perfect.

So how many people using zex have had problems? I know a number of mustang guys really don't like zex kits due to failures of the purple box.

I am also in the 12s with a 125 shot. If I had a bottle warmer I'd be even lower on the ETs since I had a lack of pressure on that night -- due to temps in the low 60s to high 50s. Now that she is garaged in the winter and no longer my driver I don't know if I'll continue messing with the nitrous or just start saving for the twin screw.
CONSIDER APPLICATION
You know Safado one must consider the intended application or satisfaction may not be assured.
Reading the posts here and on the other nitrous threads the measure of performace seems to be the 1/4 mile. Well, you may not be interested in 1/4 mile drag racing but more attuned to something else.
Although there is a world class NHRA drag strip 20 miles from me, street cars seem to shun it. So it's no fun to spend trip money, gas, entry fee only to race myself or some 9 second 454 big block competition coupe.
James79stang in San Angelo, Texas, has a smaller strip but it's supported by a large group of street cars and he has a blast with his N/A 03. Takes trophies and wins on a regular basis.
Think about where you primarily want to use this power, how long (in time) the nitrous will be spraying and set up your hardware accordingly.
There are plenty of products that will allow you to tailor a nitrous system to meet your requirements when you decide on how you intend to employ your system. Come back and the membership can further advise you on hardware pieces.
I use as an example a member of this site, Jim Spadling, who lives across town, and has an 03 with a 300 shot, turns the 1/4 mile in the elevens, but that's been a while ago.
His car is being upgraded as of this date. He has a dedicated gas tank for nitrous in the trunk, pumps and plumbing galore with a multi-staged system and a built forged motor. He was my inspiration to go nitrous. But his set up is mainly for the 1/4 mile.
Hope you have good results from your decision making process.

You don't think the dry shot was the cause for the lean(ness)... Even thought the wet shot is also fed from the factory pump but it doesn't raise the fuel pressure... I saw a chart once on how a 255lph pump flowed that at 40 psi.. but at 80 psi (dry shot press) it only flowd like 88lph...
most of the marauders here that have Oxide are useing a Wet system right?

My MM would be a daily driver... I need the extra power only when a srt/rt what ever else wants to play... The only deal with the blowers are the intial cost and the fuel economy drop..
It kind a sux that the marauder is low powered from the factory.. There are maximas with that much power out of a V6...

Blowers are also more reliable last longer, and no bottle refilling required, not to mention the fuel economy generally wont drop unless you cant keep your foot out of it wich will be the same for the nitrous...ive seen alot of blown cars get better mpg after becoming boosted

Blowers are NOT more reliable. It all depends on use and maintaince.
I ran nitrous on my mustang from 70k miles till 140k miles when I took the OEM longblock out. ONLY because I wanted more cubes. I never ONCE had a problem with a 125hp shot on the street and 150 at the track. I've blown 3 sets of head gaskets with boost on my stang. Forced induction is capible of just as much damage. You also have to remember, more moving parts=more things to fail, its a fact of life. Nitrous is EXTREMELY simple and rarely fails unless the user installed the wiring wrong.
The only reason I went to a supercharger on my stang instead of nitrous was that I don't like that nitrous falls off in the upper RPM's. With high HP applications you have to start getting progressive controlers, and other accessories which you'll end up spending on the blower and make more power in the long run. Nitrous is AWESOME on Marauders because it helps the TQ a ton which is where the cars need help. Just a 50 shot on my old SHO took a full second off the ET because I was actually able to get out of the hole! 2.1 60' instead of 2.5

Nitrous is great and gives a real boost, but it is ALL in the tune with our high compression engines. A tune from a known, experienced and reliable tuner like Lidio is critical - a high volume fuel pump certainly does not hurt. The SVT Focus pump is a direct plug and play. Zex's wet system is the best for the MM high compression engine.

I am very happy with my kit. I went 12.9 spinning in first and letting off. I am running the traction control module from zex. I would definately buy it again. I think they mainly had the problems with the old zex boxes. I would have gotten a NX kit but found the zex for the right price. Pics of install are in my gallery pics. Good luck with your descision.
