What price should one expect to have 4:10's installed? When I had it done on my black MM, I shopped around and found that it was a pretty expensive affair. The local Ford Dealer, who was Ford Racing Certified, wanted nearly $2,000 for the job.
I got a recommendation from a friend for a little shop who did the job for $800. I supplied the gears. (Thanks Ebay!)
I'm kind of curious what other people paid?

I was under the understanding that it would run roughly $500-$600. Including the gears. 2 grand though

Find a shop that works on Mustangs. The 8.8 rear ends are the same. I had mine installed for $200.00. I supplied all the parts.

My workplace can do it for $200 also. Just supply the fluids.

This is the average ^^^^
I paid $460 installed and that included gears.
Find a Ford Mustang performance shop.

 Race Certified or not, $2,000 is a huge ripoff. Mine were done at the same time as my exhaust so I don't have a breakdown of just the gear install cost, but in my area $300-$400 is average.
2K should get you nearly 2 complete axle rebuilds!!! You could buy a new Jasper unit for that kind of money as well.
Gear install labor should run $2-300 Parts maybe another $250 depanding on what you replace (gear set, seals, fluid, etc.)

I do them for around $250 if the customer supplies all the parts.

$250 in the Boston area at the right shop. $300 if you do the differential at the same time. The Mustang idea is correct. My guy used to own one, and started off that way. Now he does a set every couple weeks.
