If you had to replace your battery, what would you choose?
Motorcraft, Diehard, Duralast?

odyssey PC1700/65... You will need to trim the battery box a hair to make it fit, but they are the best batteries made.. There is a reason they have a contract with the military :)

This is what I am going with, they are pricey but from what I hear well worth it. Did you get the plastic or metal case?

One of the things I value most in a battery is it's ability to keep all it's acid inside. I've
had Interstates, Die Hards, and Duralasts, and all of 'em got the acid ooze all over the
tops, and tended to corrode the battery cables.

The Motorcrafts I've had stay clean. 'Nuff said.

The OEM batt lasted exactly 2 years, the NAPA 13 months replaced free but why put up w/ that pos and the Optima is 16 months so far.

Diehard sells a pos battery w/ a money making warr for Sears. The batts keep failing and they "fu-rate" a new one. I quit buying them 10+ years ago.

I had to call Ford Roadside assistance to get a jump start yesterday.
I asked the guys at work ( FLM dealership) to test the battery and charging system all checked out ok.
Car only cranked for thirty seconds and pooped out.

I tried the Optima link, but there's nothing for MMs, CVs, or GMs???

I have the factory battery, and no probs yet with 12,500 miles. I wanted to go Optima for their great rep and weight reduction....what's the latest trouble about?

I've used the Walmart Everstart black (cheap) batteries in beater cars and they were surprisingly durable through cranking for minutes to get them started, lots of short trips, etc

I think I'll end up replacing mine with a Motorcraft since the OEM has done just fine so far.

Any certain one to go with from below? Went to Motorcraft's website to search them up.

Black top interstate megatron. Interstate MAKES and OWNS Optima. The black top Megatron is the highest CCA and longest warranty battery available in our size. Period.

I have done this homework.....

Oyssey has 875 CCA and 142 min reserve at 25 amp
Megatron Plus has 875 CCA and 165 min reserve at 25 amp.

Any battery can put out incredible amperage at dead short for a few seconds. There are even battery based WELDING systems for 4x4 trail trucks out there! Don't believe the hype!!!

I had the equivalent of a PC 925 dry cell as a second battery in a system. Sucked the stocker dry. I hate air cells.

So the Megatron Plus would be a wise choice to get? I want something that has some power to it. Got a p/n for the one that fits our car?

For now the Battery starts the car fine.
Not in the mood to spend any money on a battery, unless the Motorcraft won't do the job.
If it does give me trouble in sub zero temps, I will likely stay with Motorcraft.

Motorcraft, motorcraft! I can't say it enough.

On my 02' GM, with close to 58k, its the original battery. And, I have a high power sound system in my car. I love it!

The wife's OEM Delphi went out after 2 years on the Hond Pilot.

Replaced w/ 3 year free then pro-rata to 8 years Autozone. I figure Auto Zone is eveywhere. When it goes the wife can pull up and they swap for free.

I have Optima on MM.

Bradley G

Well yesterday was the last day with the original battery. She cranked about ten seconds and died.
I went with the Autozone yellow top .
Same price as the Ford, three year replacement vs. 18 months with Motorcraft.
Also Duralast is rated higher by CCA 875 vs 675 Ford.
Threw that bad boy in yesterday , she cranked and started like the Bad Mother she is.
The local parts store is just a few miles away and they have been good about any returns exchanges.
I even laid down for the anti corrosion felt circles and dressing.
WTH? :P
