Sounds like a classic case of one cop who got up at "Hate-o'clock in the morning" He's mad your merc showed him up and started sippin' Hateraide!

Pay the dumb fine and keep rockin'! Consider it "Hate-fees"

:argue:Fight it... tell the magistrate that you bought the car from a dealer that way and if the tint is legal or better than legal, have a cop test it with their darkness tester or something and tell the magistrate that you are within the legal limit... that is, if it is in the legal limit for your state. If your not legal, then pay THE MAN

First time I saw a local PD cop in a Charger was several months ago. I took off quickly from the left lane (3 lane one way road) to get over in the right hand lane and next thing I know I see these red and blue lights. I pulled over right away and he rolled up next to me and just said "Hey slow it down.....(pause) nice cruiser by the way, be safe" and then took off lol. I kind of didn't know what make of that at first then just laughed the rest of the 10 mins I was on the road till I got home.

I see a lot more marked Chargers all over the place now.

I see a TON of vehicles with tinted out windows here. I don't know how they get away with it. New York has pretty stiff rules regarding tint.

I know if I did it, I would get nailed every time I took the car out. Hence, no tint for me....

Take it to the station, have them measure it. If it's illegal, I believe you can tell them you will remove the tint (either there at the station in front of them, or bring it back within 24hrs) and they will wave the ticket.

Illinois has pretty strict rules regarding tint. You can have NONE on the driver or passenger windows. You can have any darkness you want on the rear windows. Chicago's "tint" fine is only $15, but it's steeper if a state trooper pulls you over. I got the "Chicago" fine, and a friend of mine got a ticket from a state trooper when I let him borrow it. I took it off the fronts to avoid the hassle. I'll will get only the rear windows (lightly) tinted on my new silver.

PS: That stuff is HARD to get off! Took me a couple of hours!

My town still has all of its 98 P71's except for one that got turned into a municipal car, and one that became the "code enforcer"

I believe NJ still uses CVPI's and expo's

Yeah they do but it seems as if its rarely enforced if at all. Ive had 20% on my car since March 2006 and have never been pulled over.

Yeah I live right around where the the 05/06 black Mustang GTs set up at (Route 29 in Columbia). I heard one of them has a tune, intake and axle back exhaust. Haven't seen it with my own eyes.....yet but I wouldn't doubt it.

A lot of states also have medical exemptions. With a medical exemption here is the exact wording that applies to all of my cars, trucks and vans....

"...a motor vehicle operated by or regularly used to transport any person with a medical condition which renders him susceptible to harm or injury from exposure to sunlight or bright artificial light may be equipped, on its windshield and any or all of its windows, with sun-shading or tinting films or applications which reduce the transmission of light into the vehicle to levels not less than thirty-five percent..."
