I'm trying to work a deal on a Shelby GT 500, and if it pans out, I'll have to sell my Marauder :(

Can I expect to get $18K out of my car? It's an '03 with 23K miles, very pristine, non-smoker, 4.10 gears, 3000 stall TC, DR tuned, brand new tires. Silver Birch with rare Light Flint interior.

18k? Actually sounds like a great price with the mileage.

Id bet you could get 19k

dont do it, sell the other mustang you got, or the charger!

I know, what do you want two Mustangs? Didn't you end up getting that GT500 appearance package anyway?

I have to keep the Charger, it's our highway car (I have a company car for in town). The Mustang will go, too.

I didn't get the GT 500 tribute car, that deal fell thru. And honestly, I really don't foresee this one going thru, either. If I can't buy the Shelby for MSRP, I'm not going to play.

Keep that marauder as long as possible, its to nice to end up in the wrong hands.

Although I agree with everyone above and would hate to see another respected mm owner sell, you could very well get that price for your MM in a private sale though maybe less if its to a dealer, as that's near what I'd payed a dealer for a stock MM with similar miles.

Ditto ^^^^above.

Kelley's has priced then in that range. 16-19K.

You may be able to get it in a private sale but dont expect anything near that if you plan on trading.

A great way to find out what "the market" is paying for any given car at any given time is to check out eBay... You have to have an account for this to work, but do a search for Mercury Marauder, then -- on the left, click "Cars and Trucks" -- then, after the search is narrowed down to just cars, on the far left, find "Completed Items." It'll give you an idea what private sellers are getting -- at least on the eBay marketplace.

PS. I just bought an '03 with 8,881 miles on it -- Silver with Light Flint - and paid not too much more than what you're asking. I WOULD have paid 18,000 for a car of your milage. I was looking at the DTR that is currently re-listed on eBay (was/is listed for 18,500)(similar milage to yours), but the auction was pulled, so I went with the silver one I found.

Oh -- and PPS: --- If you must sell, wait until March or April. Two thoughts: The weather warms up and the hearts of men turn to shiney, new cars -- AND -- they have tax-refund-money burning a hole in their pockets!

Holiday time is not a good time to sell a car.

you should definately get that for a private sale.... i bought my 03 at a dealer with 34k miles in April for $17,995. i will admit mine is not VERY pristine but it is pretty nice.... and its stock.

best of luck to you. i pass a Shelby GT500 everyday on theway to work. WOW blue with white stripes. he has waved a few times and we rev our motors back and forth. lol

Don't think you'll be able to get the GT 500 at MSRP.

AUTO TRADER DOT COM .....here you will see about 130 cars from all areas of the country plus dealer prices and private sellers. with that data... market analysis of your vehicle and your region is easy. good luck and remember cash is king, no matter which hat you wear. especially in this economy.

I agree that Auto Trader (and Cars.Com) are good sources -- But -- from the research I've personally done over the last sixty days, I have concluded that the prices listed are generally two or three thousand dollars more than what people actually paid.

dealers like to make 5 grand.

19 - 5 = 14K

Your Mustang will be worth 30% less than MSRP too.

No deal on the Shelby, so I'll be keeping the Marauder. Not that I'm disappointed :)

Best of luck. Can't tell you how many dealers I contacted, and the best deal any of them offered on a GT500 was $15K over sticker.
