vortech supercharger rattle?

Don't know if I its a potential problem or not but I have noticed a slight rattle sound coming from my vortech. I've lost no performance, still same boost pressure, no higher than normal temps...anyone one else with a vortech ever notice this?:confused:

i too have this rattle or flapping noise when the window is up and radio is off and foot is to the floor it sounds like an exhaust leek but everything checks out ok on that end so is it the SQ(super quiet) vortech..if so i would rather the loud whistle...

Maybe make a couple videos and try to get a good sample of the sound... could be anything really

Don't know about Vortec but my ProCharger was noisy from the beginning.....rattling metal sound at idle that went away off idle??:confused: I was told the "straight cut" gears cause this and it was normal!!:beer:

63K miles later a grinding noise evolved and I sent it in for rebuild.......came back very quiet.....not even the gear rattle.......so I wonder why it was so noisy when new??:cool: ProCharger says that is normal when bearings are replaced without gears...OK??:rolleyes:

Really only two things could cause rattling......gears or loose impeller but a loose impeller would probably end up hitting the housing??:eek:

Since Vortecs use engine oil you cannot look at oil contamination for a clue??:cool:

Maybe Dennis will have an answer??

I have an upgraded one to a T trim and so far no problems like you describe---are you sure its from the blower?.......like was suggested..maybe if you make a sound clip of the "rattle sound" and send it to Dennis, maybe he could tell you better whats going on.....

My Tensioner / Belt was making a noise on mine.

Replaced both, and now all good.

The rattle is the pulley behind the
vortech mounting bracket
next belt change, change the inexpensive factory pulley.

it fixed my rattle
