This morning I had a new situation occur.. Getting ready to take my daughter to school, go to start the car and it turns over but does not fire..I do this four times, Crank it over a couple revolutions, then pause, and crank again. Finally on the fifth time she fired and started, it was the most god aweful idel, so I shut her down. We jumped in the truck and took her to school, came back home and tried again, this time it started, but sounded like it was flooded, missing and coughing, then finally ideling out to be smooth, oh smoke, man did she send out some smoke from the pipes. Any ideas? I hope nothing got screwed up.

I am going to pull the plugs tonight and see if any are fouled, pull the battery cable to reset the computer, then resend the code for the lido tune I have, anything else I should look at? First time having an issue with a starting problem on a full injected car.

Did you by any chance previously start the car when cold and only run it for a few seconds, like moving it from one side of the driveway to the other? Both of mine have done just what you describe after a similar scenario.

Maybe the IAC valve.

Mine is hard to start unless you open the throttle. But it is far from stock, so who knows what could be causing it for me.

This may or may not be related but I've had the same experience as RF Overlord. Mine has only smoked twice and both times during a start after having only run a minute or two cold. Now I am in the habit of NEVER running the engine for a short minute when cold. I always let it warm somewhat with EVERY start.

Maybe there was a bit of gas left in the cylinders that didnt burn, and it flooded and exhaled some unburnt fuel. Drive it around the block next time and see if you notice anything odd.

I thought about that and yes, last night it was around 38 degrees and I moved it from the end of the driveway to the garage..Why?

I had the intake tube pop off the filter and that caused a hard start. Try taking a look at your intake.

Ok, first off, thank you everyone for your support, the car is by far the best thing I have ridden in and owned! I came home all stressed out:bigcry: today and thought I would take in all your advise, stop, think, and listen. That is what I did. I went outside, paused and prayed, two cranks and she fired up, smoke was alot less, ideled back at the normal range, and felt no vibrations. placed her in reverse, still no idel change or vibrations..long story short took her for a nice ride down the freeway, nice and easy, then found a little honda that pi$$ed me off toasted it and lets say she is BACK!! Nothing like switching off OD at 65, and letting her do the work and the import just falling further and further behind!! :beatnik:

Still going to do the IAC pm and the plugs this weekend, but thank you to all for your advice.:bows:

Invitation is still open to all that visit Vegas, look me up!

The closest to a "hard start" that I get w/ this car, is that it cranks longer than I would like starting hot sometimes. Not problematic, but longer than a newer car usually takes to crank. Maybe several cranks longer than I'd like. Seems to do it if the car is started and run for a short period of time, like the guys said.
