Anyone know if the air suspension compressor has been upgraded since our cars were built? As some here know mine crapped out and was replaced with a OEM unit. Just this morning I mentioned to the wife that I have not heard it run since I brought the car home from the shop. This afternoon when I parked it I heard it relieveing air out of the system, so it is working. I could always hear the original compressor kick on, and it did a lot. The new one must be whisper quiet. :dunno:

Ray,
Could it be that you heard it more often due to a slow leak? This might have caused the old pump to work more often, thus more noise?

i think i have a slow leak as sometimes going over a large bump, the compressor kicks back on :(

I'm going to keep an ear out for the same condition on my car, never noticed. I do notice that mine sits lower in the rear than it used to when parked.

Nope, it was always noisy from day 1. I do like the new quiet one better.

Ray,

Do you happen to have any part numbers for the items that were replaced?

I've notice within the last 2-3 months mine comes on a lot more often than normal. Never really hear it when the car is in motion unless I'm throwing it into the turns, just always kicks on whenever I start the car. Guess it's cause of the air temp change.

Some compressors were very noisy from the get go. Others however, like mine on the GM are so quiet you have to lift the hood to know its working!

Mine sounds like a jack hammer but only for the few seconds after starting up.

Hear is how to tell if it is loud: Turn car on, wait for a couple of seconds, then turn car to acc. It should continue working and with the engine sound will not be there. Don't be scared if it is jack hammer loud.

weird that some of you are having issues already. mine is still stock and have had no issues. everything still looks good too.

these systems are supposed to last a good 10 years.

Ford also said the marauder is a mid 6 second car 0-60

I didnt think the ford air suspensions were to great. it rides nice, just not to reliable i suppose.

Someone needs to talk to air ride, i think a performance airbag handling kit would be sweet, especially since when you park it, you can slam it on the ground

I didn't ask, but it was probably due to not servicing the dryer. I won't make that mistake again. I'll talk to my service guy to find out the service interval.

This is what I have heard also. Although I have no idea how the service is done.

I didn't even know it had a drier, let alone it would need servicing. Please let us know about service interval - anyone search prior threads yet?
