Martin has a Metal Matrix Drive shaft that is no longer made, this is a very good shaft, the others one now sold are made out of 6061 aluminum, these are also a very god shaft but there 4" in diameter so what he is offering is a very good deal

What is the advantage to the metal vrs the aluminum? Weight difference play a part?

The composite MMDS was, 3.5" so when Dynotech could not get the composite aluminum stock, they went to a 6061 T5 Aluminum and increased the diameter of the shaft to 4", this is what we sell to the Police and for Mark 8, Marauder and T bird and the SSR, there both excellent drive shafts.

Here (http://www.supermotors.net/vehicles/registry/media/581928_1) is an excellent picture of a MMX driveshaft equivalent made by PST (http://www.pstds.com/critical_link_drive_shafts.htm ). (BK_Grand_Marquis's car)
Here (http://pasig.myphotoalbum.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=a lbum09&id=IMG_1559) is a picture of a Dynotech driveshaft. (my car)

Whats the reason the Marauder needs a "upgraded" driveshaft?

Do a search, plenty info.

The MM is speed limited due to DS whipping. Put in gears and a tune which eliminates speed limiter and the Trans tail housing can go by by.

There are pics of the result of this happening early on in the MM Mod process on this site.

Some have their DS balanced which will only help if the DS was out of balance and still does not make it stiffer.

If balancing worked then all DS could be made of crack cocaine or viagra and so long as they were balanced there would not be a problem.;)

I have over 30k miles on my marauder with well over 25 runs on a abandoned airstrip in excess of 135mph and quite a few high speed freeway blasts with the stock shaft. No vibrations and zero issues. Some havent been so lucky but it may be due to a bad batch of shafts since most members have no issues.

Above 80MPH I notice some shimmy on the steering wheel. Is that due to the DS. I dont think it is the wheel balance since this only occurs at higher speeds.

Is the safety loop still available? and does this one need to have holes drilled?

No holes drilled....bolts go through exsisting holes (bucket seats)

Gotta Love It!

I think you would feel a driveshaft vibration throughout the whole car. My dad had an 88 Crown Vic and his driveshaft went bad; It Shook the whole car like a bandit
