good news:
the marauder is in the garage for the winter

bad news:
it's broke.

it used to slip while going into gear. then it wouldnt hook up till 1000rpm. then 1500. then 2000. and soo on.

it will not go into gear. fluid is fine. smells a bit burnt. it does go into reverse. thats it. no D. no 2. no 1. but hey, got neutral!

it has 50,2xx on it. 300a. jlt cai. thats it.

-it broke down on the way to work. fortunately, a guy at work was a AAA gold member and had my car flat bedded to my house for free. then i backed it into the garage.

Sorry to hear that, my friend...

Gives you reason to build it bigger and better...

Let us know how the re-build goes...Call Darin at BC Auto.

Give Darrin (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=80) a call for a custom build. I like mine a lot. I've read nothing but good things about these builds.

Will they fail if you drive nice?

Will they fail if you drive nice?

I had the same concern. Darrin assured me that the trans would work fine in a daily driven car.

Hate to say it but I had the same thing happen on my 1980 Marquis at about 65,000 miles. The bands were slipping in the transmission. It had the same exact symptoms you are describing and yes the fluid smelled slightly burnt. Wish I could give you better news.
