I find it hard to belive that the DSP button on my 2003 does not function. I have the Audiophile system according to the sticker. It looks like an Audiophile. But it does not say "Audiophile." When in Va. I stopped a Merc dealer and the answer from Merc was that the MM did not have the DSP feature.
What pees me off is that the wife's Explorer has a lower grade system and the working DSP feature.
Is this correct? We don't have that feature?

I want my DSP!

This same issue was discussed on a thread back in April or May
of this year. You might be able to find it in the old thread files.
Gotta love it!

No DSP.

Just upgrade the speakers at all 4 corners, Rob...and you won't even miss it. Use Dynomat on the rear-deck, behind the rear seatback and in the front doors. I had mine done at Circuit City...in/out for $345. Unless you are an audiophile, you'll see that this is more than enough.

It does have DSP, it has been changed from simulating building accoustics, to "front seat" "rear seat", "all" etc. Sama sa forthe audiophile radio in the Town Car.

If your stereo does not have a DSP button, it is the wrong one.

What DID get changed for some reason between our head-units and the TCs is the (I thought it was referred to as DSP) which gives you the different "equalizer" settings as to the types of music (i.e. Classical, Rock, Country, Talk radio). I thought THIS was what was meant by whether we have "DSP" or not. Not the function of directing the sound from "All", Driver" & Rear".

If I'm wrong, I stand corrected.

Todd:

It's ALL Digital Signal Processing...I guess we just get a shorter menu of DSP functions than the TC...although I can't imagine how that would save Ford any money; it's all on one chip...

The ability to scan for specific type of music (classical, country, rock, etc) is available by using the RDS button. Nice feature when you are traveling.

No, the TC stereo has the exact DSP we have, adjusting sound location perception only. The early TC literature, like hte early Maauder literature has the "concert hall" "stadium" etc listed, but like the MM, the TC didn't get it
