I drove my car all day yesterday with no problems. Went outside today to start it and it had a really hard time starting. I had to try 5 times to get it to start, and it would only start if I held the gas peddle to the floor while starting it. I can keep it running if I hold the RPM's at 1500 or above, but if I let off the gas to let it idle or put it in gear it dies immediately. It revs and sounds normal once started, but won't idle. No CEL, and it was running great all day yesterday. It's cold here, but not excessively. It was about 28 degrees this morning.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the IAC is kaput...

Yup, IAC. Cold and wet weather is usually when they go out.

It's an easy replacement. 2 bolts, one plug...

Maybe it is the fuel pump.

Well, I went out to start it today and it fired right up, idled and drove great for 30 miles or so. We have been having some changes up and down in temp the last few weeks from 15 degrees one day to 45 the next, that has happened a couple of times recently. So I am wondering if maybe I had some condensation in the tank and fuel lines. I put some HEET additive in and topped the tank off, so hopefully that will prevent any further problems. If I keep having issues maybe I will look into switching out the IAC, but it is running and idling great today so hopefully the problem is solved.

Thanks guys.

clean the throttle body. if they get too gummed up it won't want to stay running.

My 96 T-Bird did the same thing. Like the other threads say: it's the IAC valve.
If you don't want to spend the money in replacement without knowing if it is in fact the problem:
- pull it off the engine
- get a bucket or drain pan
- fill it with carbuator cleaner (hold your finger over some of the holes so it doesn't just come right out the other end)
- when it's full of cleaner, shake it around abit
- keep refilling, emptying, and shaking it for no less then 30 minutes (more if you want)
You'll be amazed at the crap that comes out!
This will allow the motorized piston inside it to move back and forth.
