Anyone ever have the throttle stick ?
This happened to a C-Vic of my moms, way back in the day.
Turned out this was some what common on this era Panther.
The culprit in this case was the throttle cable.

Had a throttle cable "hang up" on a S-10 pick up at full trottle!!!!
The brakes took a beating trying to get through the intersection, and into a parking lot...
NOT FUN!!!

so ya pop it into neutral and turn the key back one click...if you have any qualms about it you should practice it about 10 times like any other malfunction you are concerned about.

Umm... I'd suggest doing those two things in the opposite order...

A member PM'ed me about it happening on his Marauder.
The car that I have personal experience with this issue, was my moms' 1992 CV LX.

Happened to me with my Marauder. I had only had the car a couple of months at the time, this was back in '02. Ford sent an engineer to look at it and they replaced the throttle cable. No problems since.

Unless the throttle linkage is binding, this was my first thought .
That could be a real disaster especially on a blown car.
Thanks for the input, Fourth Horsman.

Yeah I would have to agree on that lol. Turn key back then put it in neutral.
One of my old vehicles I had the throttle get stuck cause the idle adjustment screw came undone and wedge in the butterfly spring on the throttle body, luckly it just wasn't letting me go down any farther then 3-3.5K rpms I believe. Lucky enough the car was a manual so I made it home (5-6 miles).

Why is the method of key off first then neutral , better? Wouldn't you want to disengage the transmission from the WOT engine and then brake before shutting down?

That would scare the crap out of me too!
Glad to hear it was not a serious problem.

Uh.....Putting the trans in neutral first will give you an instant visit with the REV LIMITER!!!:shake:

Well, from a safety standpoint, the into neutral first gives you back control of the vehicle...then the key off after you have steered and braked to safety.. The overrevving of the engine is just a secondary consideration either you die or the engine may... take your choice...

Key OFF....no steering wheel lock in the Marauder......
Trans in gear will help slow you down.....
At WOT the engine has no vacuum so brake booster has limited vacuum stored.....My guess is we ALL would be hard on the brakes first....Then who knows what screaming drivers will do??
Many scenarios to consider but I'll bet none of us will remember ANY of this if it happens (very remote possibility) to us!!??:shake:
